Warning: Spoilers for Creed: Next Round #1The long-lost daughter of Apollo Creed from the original Rocky trilogy has finally returned. Creed: Next Round is a new comic book series that serves as a direct sequel to Creed III within the larger Rocky spinoff franchise. Taking place 10 years after the last movie's events, Adonis s his 14-year-old daughter's efforts to become a boxer. The problem lies in just how far he's willing to push her. The retired Creed remains apprehensive and skeptical about booking Amara against more challenging opponents. This creates a rift between the two Creeds as the youngest embarks elsewhere for a trainer to help her reach her potential.

This brings readers to the ending of Creed: Next Round #1 by LaToya Morgan, Jai Jamison, Wilton Santos, DJ Chavis, Andworld Design, Kathleen Wineski, Kenzie Rzonca, Grace Park, Dafna Pleban, Elizabeth Raposo, and Christina Raquel. After a falling out with her father after taking part in an underground fight, Amara takes matters into her own hands. Through a location search using the PeopleDetective app, Amara is able to track down a boxer that she's hoping will train her. This brings her to the doorstep of Artemis Creed. Nicknamed the Butcher, Artemis is a former three-time IWBF Champion with 49 KO wins under her belt. She also happens to be the daughter of Apollo Creed and Adonis' half-sister.

Apollo Creed's Daughter Finally Has a Name

Amara Creed meets Artemis

In the original Rocky franchise, it was established that Apollo already had two other kids, an unnamed son and an unnamed daughter. Adonis, a child whom Apollo had from an offscreen affair, spent most of his childhood in foster care and juvenile facilities prior to Apollo's wife Mary Anne adopting him. Following his adoption in the opening scene of the first Creed movie, the trilogy doesn't delve much into the whereabouts of Mary Anne's children she had with Apollo. It's only recently in Creed III that Apollo's other kids are even mentioned at all, albeit in ing. In a scene, Creed tells Mary Anne that antagonist Damian treated him more like family than her kids. While this at least confirms that he once lived in the same house as them, the movie never gives further insight into their adult lives or even their names.

Adonis will Reconnect with His Half-Sister Through His Daughter

Amara Creed meets Artemis 2

Creed: Next Round #1 finally gives Apollo's forgotten daughter a name and establishes her as a successful boxer. The moment also helps contextualize the reason why she and her unnamed brother are hardly mentioned throughout the trilogy. It isn't so much that the trilogy fails to address them. It's more so that the trilogy's title character has little to no relationship with either of them, hence why he never mentions them. One can argue that he's actively avoided talking about them up until this point. They weren't close as children and seem even more distant now considering that Amara has to locate her aunt through an app.

It appears as if the comic series going forward will force Adonis and Artemis to reunite with Amara's career at stake. It's safe to say that these two may have not even spoken since childhood, and now they'll likely have to come to with how they treated each other in the past. Artemis Creed training Adonis' daughter could go a long way toward either bringing them closer together or drifting them further apart. Readers will have to wait until the next issue to see if Artemis accepts Amara's offer. For now at least, finally giving Apollo's daughter a name and making sense of her absence in the Creed trilogy goes a long way in expanding the wider Rocky universe.
