American Idol season 23 fans slammed the latest elimination after Top 7 finalist Gabby Samone went home, and some have even given up on the show. During American Idol season 23 Disney and Mother's Day Tribute Night, the Top 7 finalists competed to advance to the Top 5. Gabby sang "How Far I'll Go" from Moana and "Home" from The Wiz. What Backlash To Gabby’s Elimination Means For American Idol Season 23
The So-Called Country Singers Will Probably Advance To The Finale
It's interesting to see American Idol fans lashing out at the advancement of country singers in the competition because only John is a true singer from the genre. While Breanna and Slater lean towards a country sound at times, Breanna is more of a Christian artist, while Slater is a singer-songwriter. However, some fans have considered them country artists since their auditions, as opposed to Jamal and Thunderstorm, who aren't country singers at all.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
Although Jamal and Thunderstorm have been American Idol fan-favorites, Gabby's elimination could mean that John, Breanna, and Slater will advance to the finale because voters seem to like their style of music. As a pure country singer on American Idol, John definitely has an advantage because artists from the genre have a history of dominating the competition, ever since judge and country music superstar Carrie Underwood won American Idol season 4 in 2005. However, this doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve his spot if he makes it because he's a very talented singer.
Our Take On Gabby Samone’s American Idol Elimination
Fans Have To Vote For Their American Idol Favorites
While it was very disappointing to see Gabby go home in her shocking elimination, American Idol fans must see this as a lesson to vote for their favorite contestants, especially because Mattie, who also wasn't a country singer, was eliminated too. Knowing that country singers have a nearly-unbeatable fan following, viewers who like contestants from other genres should rally together and vote to keep their favorites in the competition. It's worked for the past two seasons when non-country singers Iam Tongi and Abi Carter won American Idol.

I Saw Miranda Lambert In Concert & My Experience Confirms The Type Of Mentor She'll Be On American Idol Season 23
American Idol S23 will welcome country music superstar Miranda Lambert as a mentor, and my concert experiences confirm how she'll perform in the role.
In addition, although some people might not be fans of country music, there's no denying that John has the talent and charm to make it through to the finale. He's given consistently fantastic performances since his audition, and he deserves his spot in the Top 5. John and Gabby are very different singers. While John is more subtle, Gabby is a powerhouse, but that doesn't necessarily mean that one is better than the other.
It all comes down to personal preferences. American Idol fans have consistently chosen country music over any other genre. Hopefully, American Idol fans won't give up on the remaining five contestants because they all deserve a fair chance at advancing to the finale after making it this far.
American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
