The world of Legend Of Korra may be centered around the elements of air, water, earth, and fire as their categorical system, but the stars can be helpful, too.
With a cast of characters who are all very different in a lot of ways, the twelve personality types of the zodiac are a good frame of reference for where they might fit in, and fans might be excited or surprised to see which Legend of Korra character shares their Zodiac sign.
Aries: Korra
Korra is the epitome of Aries personality: she has pure, unadulterated energy and when she learns how to harness and focus it, the world is her oyster. The entire series is about her trying different things as she makes her way through avatar training, and she goes into each with confidence and optimism--even air bending, which is her least favorite as it requires more calm focus.
The avatar is a symbol of hope to the world, a strong Aries trait, and that's exactly what Korra becomes. She's brave and ionate, and her creative thinking helps her to save the world multiple times, making Korra the strongest woman in the series.
Taurus: Tenzin
Tenzin is the calm, cool, and collected teacher. He's a straight shooter and values people's honest word. He is also an incredibly hard worker, as he teaches and takes care of the only living air benders by himself. With wisdom in abundance, Tenzin also has a lot of mental tenacity and can pick himself up from failure and try again.
He's trained his whole life to be able to face whatever the world may throw at him. As an anchor zodiac, Tauruses value routine but also love to relax--something Tenzin improves upon over the series.
Gemini: Asami
Asami is the wildly intelligent one of Team Avatar, with a secret set of self-defense skills to boot. Although she was raised with more means than others, she committed herself to developing some of the best fighting ability in Legend Of Korra. She goes with the flow and will try out any new experience presented to her.
Asami is both sociable and able to have deep heart-to-heart talks. She can rock an evening gown and combat boots. Her adaptability and quick thinking are key to the group, and the reason she was able to run a company at a young age.
Cancer: Mako
Mako is the emotionally sensitive one of the group, even having a scarf of emotional significance (it was his father's) as a staple to his outfit. Following the loss of his and Bolin's parents, Mako had to take on a parental role even as a young child, showcasing a strong Cancer trait.
Mako is incredibly protective of his loved ones and will do anything to keep them safe. Once he's loyal to someone, like any Cancer, he's loyal to them for life. Because of his strong Cancer emotional intuition, it's no surprise that he falls in love a couple of times throughout the show--but even when things don't work out, he stays a loyal friend.
Leo: Bolin
As one of the most lovable characters of Team Avatar, Bolin has a lot to give. In fact, his huge capacity to give is one of them. Bolin is very generous with his time and effort, and affection, taking in Korra as a new and true friend right away and offering her a spot on the Fire Ferrets after teaching her some pro-bending tricks.
Bolin also shares the common Leo trait of confidence, something he needed for his acting job later on in the series. When the spotlight was on him, he commanded the audience and was a star. But, also like Leos, when the spotlight wasn't on him, he was an amazing cheerleader for his loved ones, with endless and praise.
Virgo: Jinora
Jinora is the oldest child of Tenzin and a very gifted bender. She loves reading, as Virgos tend to appreciate artistic hobbies like literature, and is of a quieter disposition than her siblings--but she has worked tirelessly to hone her bending and spiritual skills.
Her Virgo-like hard work pays off when she is the youngest person to ever attain air-bending master status. Her patience allows her to communicate with the Spirit World in an iconic scene and her kindness is probably a large reason that the spirits trust her so much.
Libra: Varrick
Varrick is the social butterfly of the show and became one of Legend Of Korra. He always finds himself on the right side of whatever conflict there happens to be, due to his very charismatic nature. He can quickly convince other people of whatever he wants and is clever enough to be able to get himself out of a couple of binds throughout the show.
Like many Libras, he's a good judge of character. The few people he chooses to keep close, like Bolin and Zhu Li, are two of the most wholesome characters on the show. He has a strong conscience by the end of the series, which he calls the "voices in his head" telling him to do the right thing, and that's a very common Libra trait as well.
Scorpio: Lin Beifong
Lin has the hard exterior of a Scorpio, with the zodiac's trademark softer interior. She is one of the bravest characters in the cast, and her determination and ambition led her to lead the metal-bending police force in Republic City. Lin never gives in, and that is her biggest strength.
Like other Scorpios, once Lin trusts a person, they're in an inner circle with her. Lin is cold to Korra at first, but when Korra proves herself, she made a loyal ally in Lin. Another key Scorpio trait is their strong sense of honesty, which is also something Lin possesses. She's a straight shooter and doesn't sugarcoat things for others' comfort. She's the kind of friend someone like the avatar needs.
Sagittarius: Bumi
Two of the main Sagittarian traits are independence and innovation, and Bumi perfectly embodies those two. As the (former) only non-bending child of Aang and Katara, Bumi had to work twice as hard to prove himself, and he did. Bumi rose through the ranks of the military and had many achievements within it.
He traveled around on many different missions, taking on the free spirit nature of Sagittarians, and has a wild spirit that belongs with this zodiac sign as well. He's a good and honest man, and has enough curiosity to continue learning new skills throughout his life--even eventually bending. He's comionate and emotionally intelligent, often being someone that people can go to for advice and insight.
Capricorn: Tonraq
Tonraq, Korra's hardworking Northern Water Tribe father, sees the world in an almost analytical way. He prefers the physical world over spiritual matters, as it is something he can deal with concretely and get results.
Although at times his viewpoint can be unmoving, he is a charismatic leader who gained the respect of his people and he had Capricorn ambition to fuel his journey to leadership. He's responsible enough to take care of an entire tribe of people and to own up to any mistakes he makes, which also takes responsibility.
Aquarius: General Iroh II
Iroh II has a very strong sense of justice, like a true Aquarian, and his ion for progress shines through with his fighting spirit. He is highly intelligent, as proven by his rank in the Fire Nation and his ability to lead forces and anticipate the moves of others. He's not afraid to think outside of the box or act in a humbled way.
He is very quick to show gratitude for help from others and he's a loyal friend and ally. His kind heart gives him a lot of romantic partner potential and his forward-thinking is an unmatched political and military asset.
Pisces: Kya
Although Kya, at a point in time, harbored some resentment toward Tenzin, she never stopped being comionate toward her brothers--even when they fought. She is a creative and free spirit, as with many water-sign Pisces (and water-benders!).
Kya is generous enough to put others' needs ahead of her own, and devote time and effort to helping Team Avatar when they need her. Her comion and emotional depth make her a character who loves love in all its forms, and she's markedly LGBTQ+ friendly. She is the type of loving older Pisces sister anyone would be lucky to have.
