Zenless Zone Zero has given players the first look at what to expect from its two new S-Rank Agents coming in 1.7. Zenless has been on the fast track after its slow launch and lackluster 1.1 update. Since 1.2, it has been delivering high-quality content and an abundance of new Agents that feel unique and have avoided power creep. It has also been praised for the generosity it displays in updates and events, which is even more than HSR, and a stark difference from the frugal Genshin Impact.

Though 1.6 is an exciting update with three new characters, Silver Soldier Anby, Trigger, and Pulchra, along with the new Aftershock mechanic, 1.7 may be on track to top it. The main draw, outside of the new characters, will be how it leads into 2.0, which will be the next big story update for the rising gacha title. Like the other HoYoverse games, Zenless has had its fair share of leaks for characters, and while many don't have exact dates, they feel like they will be released sooner rather than later.

Mockingbird Enters The Fray

Based on leaks and the early drip marketing from Zenless, the two new characters coming in 1.7 are Hugo and Vivian. Both of them have been background characters who have teased their appearances in past updates while getting their introduction event in 1.6. Hugo, an Ice Attack unit, is an old friend of Lycaon and the current leader of the Mockingbird faction. Meanwhile, Vivian, an Ether Anomaly unit, is a fellow Mockingbird member but seems to harbor a great iration for Phaethon.

Information on their kits has been limited but gives an idea of what to expect. Hugo seems to be a character based around frequent attacks that build stacking charges and help him refund energy. Also, he will have a part of his kit that deals more damage depending on the stun duration of his target. The best way to describe Vivian is if Anemo from Genshin crossed over into Zenless, where her Corruption Ether Anomaly will boost the effects of other Anomalies, along with triggering bonus attacks that scale off her Anomaly Proficiency and Mastery stats.

The Conclusion of 1.X

Unless any unexpected delays hit, update 1.7 should launch on April 23, 2025. However, since delays are extremely rare for HoYoverse, there is no reason to expect any. Given how the two were presented in the drip marketing, it is likely Vivian will be the first banner on April 23. Thus, this leaves Hugo as the second part of 1.7 and his banner will start three weeks later on May 14. However, Hugo may be in for a rough time with players saving for the highly-anticipated 2.0 update, which will likely have been shown off by that time.

Overall, Vivian and Hugo are gearing up to be strong and fun additions to Zenless. Initial looks seem to point at Vivian being the more must-have unit of 1.7, given how strong she will be for Anomaly teams and being the first Ether Anomaly Agent. Meanwhile, Hugo may have a tough time given that, while he is likely to be strong, it is unlikely he can reach the same levels as Miyabi's best builds, and some still prefer Ellen Joe. Regardless, these are the new characters to expect in Zenless Zone Zero update 1.7.
