The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom introduces the fusion of materials with weapons; an ability that largely fixes the durability flaw in the weapon system in Breath of the Wild. In TOTK, even a lowly tree branch can be made into a able weapon by fusing a decent material, so losing weapons isn't nearly as much of a problem. When fusing, however, it's assumed that the base materials are irretrievable.

The versatility of the different fusions incentivizes mixing and matching weapons and materials, thwarted only by the fact that fused materials cannot be reused, or so it's assumed. The base weapon can be restored by destroying the fused material in TOTK, but that does nothing to save a valuable fused horn. At least, the game presents fusion this way, but there is actually a way to separate fusions without destroying the weapon or the fused material.

Pelison In Zelda: TOTK Can Restore Components Of Fused Weapons

There is an NPC in TOTK's Tarrey Town named Pelison who will take apart fused weapons for a small fee. For the relatively low price of 20 Rupees, Pelison will deconstruct any fusion the player selects and return both the base weapon and the fused material to them. While a bit of an inconvenience being tied to a specific location, the Jochi-ihiga Shrine on the western edge of Tarrey Town makes him relatively easy to access, and load times are fast enough that it's not a huge inconvenience for players to warp whenever they want to separate a fusion.

How To Set Up Fusion Separation In Zelda: TOTK Early On

Being able to undo the fusion of powerful weapons and materials allows for experimentation with less risk in TOTK, so it is a huge benefit to have access to the service early. Unfortunately, making a straight shot to Tarrey Town isn't exactly easy, since it's towards the eastern edge of the map. The best route for players to get to this hub is to take the highway through the mountains northeast of the starting area of the Hyrule field. Taking a detour to climb Mount Lanaryu and launch from the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower wearing the right TOTK armor can shorten the trek.

The first thing to do upon arrival in Tarrey Town is to activate the Jochi-ihiga Shrine on the western edge of town to unlock teleportation. On the opposite side of town is Pelison's Break-a-Part shop. This is where a modest fee of 20 Rupees will allow TOTK players to deconstruct any fusions they have created. This allows for the re-use of high-damage base weapons and more flexible customization of elemental or special effects from materials. Visiting Pelison in Tarrey Town is a great way for players to expand the versatility of their arsenal by taking apart fused weapons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
