The Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series is iconic in plenty of ways, so much so that it has its own abridged parody series on YouTube. Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Abridged Series is a parody that cuts down episodes and duels with rerecorded dialogue that is hilarious, poking fun at both the show itself and pop culture.

Most of the humor comes from the characters themselves, who essentially act as caricatures of their real versions from the show itself. All of the characters are hilarious, but some are much funnier than others.

Most Of The Villains

Pegasus looking shocked in the anime

Pegasus, Noah and Dartz are all fun to watch. Dartz's henchmen, especially Rafael, are also great. However, none of them are quite as good as the rest of the main cast.

Out of all of them, Pegasus is probably the most fun, while Dartz is the least entertaining. The Abridged Series does a good job of making the villains completely inept, harmless.

Bakura

Yu-Gi-Oh! Yami Bakura during Battle City

Bakura has yet to really have his time to shine in YGOTAS, as his season 5 arc hasn't yet been abridged. However, the show pokes quite a bit of fun at him for being a minor character in every other season of the show so far.

He is also basically in a relationship with Marik at this point, which is adorably evil. If we couldn't have an evil duo in the actual show, then The Abridged Series is the next best thing.

Marik

Besides his aforementioned relationship with Bakura, which alone makes him a fun character to watch, Marik is concerned with being as evil as possible all of the time in the show, whether or not his plans make all that much sense. His army of Rare Hunters, known as Steves in The Abridged Series, are just about as inept as he is.

While it would have been nice to see Marik have more screen time, as he's only around for one arc, his screen time is lower than the rest of the cast, earning him this spot on the list.

Mokuba

Seto Kaiba Mokuba Yu-Gi-Oh!

Mokuba spends all of his time in The Abridged Series doing two things, being kidnapped (which, to be fair, happens in the actual anime as well) and fighting for Kaiba's love, who has a new catchphrase in The Abridged Series, "Shut up Mokuba."

Mokuba gives his everything to Kaiba only to be pushed aside constantly for money or dragons, specifically those of the Blue-Eyes variety. Poor, poor little Mokuba.

Joey

Joey Wheeler Pointy Chin Yu-Gi-Oh!

Joey's ineptitude is played up considerably in The Abridged Series, as he's clueless basically all of the time. He is known for his "Brooklyn Rage" in the series as well, as his wildly thick accent leads to.

While Joey is a ton of fun to watch, the rest of the main cast is just a bit funnier than his character, which earns him this middling spot on the list.

Kaiba

Seto Kaiba looking sullen in Yu-Gi-Oh!

The Abridged Series version of Kaiba is pretty similar to his actual incarnation. He is completely obsessed with being number one in a children's card game and he loves dragons as much as he loves money.

The show plays up those aspects of his character, but also gives him a pretty strong disdain for Mokuba in the process, which isn't exactly unearned. Mokuba contributes absolutely nothing to KaibaCorp. Kaiba is also responsible for one of the series's most famous quotes, "Screw the rules, I have money!" He sure does.

Mai

Mai with the Winged Dragon of Ra in Yu-Gi-Oh!

In the actual anime, all of Mai's wins are relegated to off-screen duels with little fanfare, she's constantly used for fan service pretty shamelessly. Of course, The Abridged Series pokes fun at Mai with both of these aspects of her character.

Season four notoriously changed Mai's voice actress in the anime, and she accordingly undergoes the same thing with a huge personality shift in The Abridged Series that is hilarious to watch go down.

Yugi

Yu-Gi-Oh! Yugi Muto is surprised

Yugi's character is fantastic in The Abridged Series, as he is basically a child and Atem is his parent. The two bicker constantly and really don't seem to have all that strong of a relationship.

Atem is also relentlessly sarcastic and makes fun of basically everyone he duels. To top it off, he has a sort of secret friendship with Kaiba that, let's be real, they totally have in the actual anime as well.

Tristan

Yu-Gi-Oh! Tristan Taylor

Joey might be dumb in The Abridged Series, but Tristan is on another level. He is a complete idiot literally every time he appears onscreen, and it is great.

He never has any idea what's going on, and he heightens any scene that he appears in with his cluelessness. Tristan is fantastic and is only sured very slightly by the No. 1 character on the list.

Tea

Tea and Dark Magician Girl dueing Crump Yu-Gi-Oh!

Tea is a gem in The Abridged Series. She makes hours-long "friendship" speeches, she makes sure to be as irrelevant as possible at all times, and her voice is just so funny.

The show constantly makes a mockery of Tea's actual dialogue every chance that it gets, and it is a home run every single time. Tea is easily the most entertaining character in the entire Abridged Series.
