Warning! Spoilers ahead for Young Sheldon season 5.
Georgie's current arc on The Big Bang Theory. CBS' premier sitcom has done a great job putting equal focus on all of the extended Cooper clan. That includes Sheldon's (Iain Armitage) oldest sibling Georgie, played by Montana Jordan, who has had an eventful Young Sheldon season 5—including a thriving love life.
Knowing full well that he isn't interested in playing football and continuing with his academics, Georgie decided to drop out of school. This was understandably met with intense opposition from his parents who put a big importance on education. However, George (Lance Barber) and Mary's (Zoe Perry) son was so adamant about quitting that he couldn't be stopped. Instead, he was more interested in working full-time in an effort to hone his entrepreneurial skills. Luckily, Meemaw (Annie Potts) has started with her laundromat/gambling den, which Georgie now helps manage.
Aside from his professional arc, Georgie's personal life is also flourishing after he started dating Mandy (Emily Osment). The pair met at Meemaw's laundromat and they immediately made a connection with one another. The only problem is, Georgie lied about his age—despite Mandy coming clean about being almost 30, he stuck with his bluff, claiming that to be 21 when he's really only a 17-year-old. Sooner or later the truth will come out, but in the meantime, Georgie deserves to have all the fun he can, because in a couple of years, once George dies, he will have to take care of his whole family.
As revealed on The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon's brother harbored a grudge against him because he never appreciated Georgie's sacrifices. Apparently, Mary couldn't continue taking care of her kids when her husband died, forcing Georgie to step in and take care of her and Missy (Raegan Revord) while Sheldon went abroad for school. As per Young Sheldon's timeline, Sheldon is currently around 11 or 12 years old. In about a year, he will catch George cheating—as revealed on The Big Bang Theory—and by the time he's 14, the Cooper patriarch will unexpectedly die.
It's uncertain how CBS is planning to pace its storytelling considering that they have tried to slow the progression of events, but with Young Sheldon's child stars growing up, they cannot do it for much longer. Otherwise, they risk creating more The Big Bang Theory plot holes by not following what was established in the original series. In any case, sooner or later, George will meet his end on Young Sheldon and Georgie will have to take over the family. Whether or not the spin-off continues to tackle this is unknown, but the ongoing CBS premier comedy could still acknowledge this via adult Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) narration.
Considering the rough road ahead for Georgie, it's great to see him have as much fun as he can at this point on Young Sheldon. However, he still needs to come clean with his real age with Mandy. From there, she can decide if she still wants to continue seeing him. What happens with his love life moving forward remains a mystery, but at least The Big Bang Theory confirmed that Georgie would eventually be able to achieve his dreams of becoming a successful businessman via Mr. Tire.
Young Sheldon season 5 airs every Thursday on CBS.
