Warning! Spoilers for You season 5 ahead!

You's final episodes brought back several characters from seasons past, each of whom publicly shared their opinion on Joe Goldberg. Overall, the Netflix series ended in the best way possible, forcing Joe Goldberg to face the monster he was rather than the knight in shining armor he pretended to be. His final prison sentence wouldn't have been possible, of course, without word of his survivors. From seasons 1 to 5 of You, Joe allowed only a handful of people to walk away alive. This ultimately came to haunt him, since many came out of the woodwork to speak out against him.

In You season 5, episode 7, "#JoeGoldberg," Joe was left to deal with the fallout from the TikTok live of him killing Clifton. Bronte's friends, Phoenix and Dominique, encouraged the internet to come forward if they had any information on Joe's past crimes. This opened the door for a lot of character cameos from past seasons of You. One after another, people from Joe's past posted on TikTok. Not everyone spoke out against him, but many of these You characters had something generally incriminating to say about Joe Goldburg. As the murderer said, "Leave it to social media to be my downfall."

7 Dottie Quinn

Love & Forty's Mother (You Seasons 2 & 3)

Dottie Quinn was first introduced in You season 2, and she continued to be a prominent (and bothersome) feature in Joe's life throughout season 3. She was the mother of Love and Forty Quinn, both of whom are dead because of You's central character. We never really got to see how Dottie handled Love's supposed murder-suicide back in season 3, but You season 5 brought her back to provide a few answers.

Dottie posted a TikTok claiming that Joe had killed her "babies," noting that her son-in-law had tried to make her look like the crazy one when it had really been him all along. At this point, Dottie had no real proof that Joe had killed Love, but she must have filled in the details for herself when he showed back up in the United States after Kate covered up his past. Though we never see it, this woman was likely a key witness in Joe's eventual murder trials at the end of You.

6 Sherry & Cary Conrad

Joe & Love's Neighbors (You Season 3)

Sherry and Cary Conrad sitting in a restaurant in You

Sherry and Cary Conrad were the most insufferable couple of Madre Linda and Joe absolutely despised them in You season 3. However, it wasn't he who ultimately harmed them. Love was desperate for Sherry's acceptance, but the latter woman was a classic elitist mean girl. When Love finally did develop something resembling a weird friendship with Sherry, it all fell apart when the Conrads overheard Love tell Joe that she had killed her neighbor Natalie.

Luckily for Sherry and Cary Conrad, they managed to escape the cage that Love trapped them in in You season 3, and they published a book about their experience following Love's death. Unlike Dottie, the Conrads didn't seem to put two and two together when Joe resurfaced. They still blamed Love in You season 5 and posted a TikTok that, though not necessarily in of Joe, didn't fully incriminate him.

5 Annika Attwater

Beck & Peach's Friend (You Season 1)

Annika You season 1

Annika Attwater was one of Guinevere Beck's friends, though she was much closer to Peach Salinger, another one of Joe's victims. Like most of Beck's friends, Annika was pretty awful, and Joe hated everything about her. However, she had never gotten so in the way of Joe's goals that he felt the need to kill her back in You season 1.

Elizabeth Lail, who played Beck in You season 1, also made a cameo appearance in season 5, showing up in some flashback scenes with Bronte.

Unlucky for Joe, the fact that he never thought to target Annika came to bite him in the butt in You season 5. She posted a video on TikTok claiming that Joe had murdered her friend, Peach. Though she shared no evidence, we know from the final episode of You that one of Joe's life sentences is for Peach's death (though he claims it was self-defense). It's likely that Annika's claims about Joe killing her friend weren't ignored by the authorities.

4 Ethan Russell

Joe's Employee At Mooney's (You Season 1)

you-netflix-ethan (2)

Ethen is another blast from the past in You season 5. He had been a sales clerk at Mooney's back in You season 1, and Joe never had any issues with the man. Ethan was a bit silly but rather likeable, and one of the few men Joe didn't feel threatened by. This character reflected this in his You season 5 cameo, stating in his own TikTok response that he had never had any reason to suspect Joe of anything nefarious.

Still, Ethan wasn't particularly helpful to Joe. He mentioned that he prefers to listen to victims and couldn't provide any information that would make Joe seem innocent. Additionally, Ethan mentioned that he had never gone into Mooney's basement because he believed it to be haunted.

3 Paco

Joe's Neighbor (You Season 1)

Paco in Netflix's You

Joe actually seemed a bit happy to see Paco in You season 5, though this quickly soured when the boy unwittingly incriminated him. Paco was a young neighbor who looked up to Joe back in season 1. The pair's relationship was similar to that of Joe and Henry's in You season 5, since our resident serial killer seemed to appreciate Paco because he reminded him of himself. Joe ended up murdering Paco's mother's boyfriend, who was abusive to both of them. A bit more disturbingly, Paco actually saw Beck in Joe's cage at Mooney's and never said anything to anyone.

Paco attempted to speak out in of Joe in You season 5. He said that Joe had always been kind to him and that it was thanks to him that Paco and his mother escaped the abusive Ron. Of course, it didn't take long for the internet warriors to figure out that Ron had been missing ever since.

2 Nadia

Joe's Student (You Season 4)

Nadia being framed for murder in You season 4

Nadia wasn't among those who posted TikTok videos about Joe, since she had been in prison ever since the final events of You season 4. She had been one of Joe's students in England, and when she got a little too close to figuring out that he was the Eat-the-Rich Killer, he framed her for murder. Kate helped him pull this off, though she didn't know the details of Joe's crimes until You season 5.

Kate helped get Nadia out of prison in You in an attempt to make up for putting her behind bars to begin with, and to gain her help in taking Joe down. Nadia and Kate were successful in capturing Joe and locking him in his own cage, but what they didn't know was that You's killer had hidden a key within a wound in his own arm.

1 Marienne Bellamy

Joe's Lover (You Seasons 3 & 4)

You Season 4 Part 1 Marienne London

Marienne Bellamy may have been the most important character from a past season of You to speak out about Joe. This character was Joe's love interest back in You season 3, and one of the rare few who managed to escape Joe—until season 4, that is. While dissociating, Joe captured Marienna and locked her in his cage before completely forgetting she was in there. Nadia ultimately found Marienne and helped her fake a suicide, ensuring that she could finally escape Joe once and for all. However, thankfully, Marienne agreed to help Nadia and Kate take Joe down.

Without Marienne's careful words, Joe would never have been sent to prison.

It's assumed that Marienne testified against Joe, but her most valuable contribution in You was talking to Bronte. She gently told the Netflix series' newest love interest that she knew exactly how she felt and explained what it meant to be in love with Joe Goldberg. Without Marienne's careful words, Joe would never have been sent to prison.
