  • It's unclear if The Madison is connected to the previously announced Yellowstone sequel series.

The Madison starring Michelle Pfeiffer and a sequel series. Unfortunately, not much is known about the latter, and some are confused about how the two shows will or won't be connected. Since the Yellowstone sequel series is a bit of a mystery and The Madison will reportedly feature an all-new cast (with Pfeiffer as the lead), it's unclear what Taylor Sheridan and his team have in store for the two shows, or if they plan on tying them together.

The Madison will reportedly start filming in late 2024 in Montana, New York, and Texas.

Aside from the two aforementioned projects, the Yellowstone franchise is set to expand with a handful of other shows. Following the bound-to-be emotional Yellowstone series finale, 1923 season 2 will be released sometime in 2025. 1944 and 6666 are also in the works, the first of which will focus on the Dutton family in 1994, and the second revolving around the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas. However, the most intriguing future Yellowstone spinoffs are undoubtedly The Madison and the untitled sequel series, especially given their reported casts.

The Madison, and Paramount Network later verified Pfeiffer would star as the show's lead. Paramount also confirmed that The Madison will revolve around a family who moves from New York City to the Madison River Valley in Montana at the start of the series. Per Collider, Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, shared his thoughts on Pfeiffer's casting in a statement. McCarthy said:

"Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace. She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, The Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan."

Rumors claim that Pfeiffer will play the rich family's matriarch, Stacy Clyburn, who moves her and her family to Montana after the tragic deaths of her husband and brother-in-law. Paramount has yet to confirm these plot details. However, the company's press release reveals The Madison is "a heartfelt study of grief and human connection," suggesting the reports are true. The Yellowstone spinoff's release date is allegedly 2025, meaning more details about the show will likely arise soon.

If Beth, Rip, and Kayce are truly the stars of the untitled Yellowstone sequel series, that means it's completely unrelated to Michelle Pfeiffer's The Madison. However, Paramount likely won't confirm this casting news until after the original show's finale so as not to spoil Beth, Rip, and Yellowstone (some previously thought that any of the three could die by the Paramount Network series' end). Only time will tell the true nature of the two shows and how they are or are not connected, though.

Pfeiffer's The Madison Should Be Separate From The Yellowstone Sequel

The Madison's Location Makes It Easy For Crossovers

Ultimately, it would be better for the franchise if the two Yellowstone TV shows — The Madison and the untitled sequel series — were two separate projects. The tease of Beth, Rip, and Kayce carrying on the original show's legacy is too tempting to up. Meanwhile, Michelle Pfeiffer (and possibly Kurt Russell) ing the universe is also enticing. There is room for both in the fictional universe. The good news is that The Madison's location is close to Yellowstone National Park, making it easier for crossovers between the two Yellowstone spinoff TV shows.
