Nightcrawler is the lovable blue mutant from the super battles with the similarly powered Blink, the comics have explored Kurt Wagner's powers and story a lot deeper than the film incarnations of his character ever did.

In X-Men Legacy #235 written by Mike Carey and Greg Land, readers get to see just how far Nightcrawler can push his abilities. Teleporting multiple times through to alternate dimensions and back to push himself forward to new locations, Kurt ends up traveling over 800 miles in less than one minute. He does all this with Cable.

Nightcrawler is not the only Speedster in the X-Men franchise. In fact, Wolverine makes Kurt go on ahead with Rogue, he makes sure that the backup teleporter, the alien Ariel, stays behind with the rest of the team. Ariel's powers of teleportation are only useful if there is a nearby door for her to be able to bend space and time, so a wide-open road means she isn't much help to the team and Kurt has to risk his life with Rogue instead.

Nightcrawler Speedster

Even after traveling such a vast distance in a short space of time, Cyclops pushes Nightcrawler even further in a bid to find Hope and save the existence of mutantkind from extinction. The X-Men's attempts to find Hope and escort her back to Utopia using Nightcrawler are made even harder by Bastion, who stops them from using their mutant tracker Cerebra. Bastion still has his own fully functioning Cerebro technology, which he uses to trace the X-Men and launch a missile on the car that contained the team trailing Kurt and Rogue. Most of the team manage to survive the blast, but the direct hit leaves them one team member down, on top of already running blind without Cerebra.

In a trailer park in Nebraska, Hope and Cable are already setting up to move on again before they can be traced, but Bastion and his cronies are already on their tail. They manage to find them and are about to attack, but the X-Men arrive just in time to save the day. Cable accepts letting Hope go on ahead with a multi-powered Rogue and Nightcrawler, leaving Logan and the others behind to fight anyone that comes after them. The mission wouldn't have been a success with Nightcrawler becoming a speedster of sorts and pushing his powers to the limit.
