Warning: contains spoilers for Storm #1After the tragic fall of Krakoa, the X-Men are scattered across the world, and that includes the iconic hero Storm. Ororo Munroe has been many things throughout her incredible life - weather witch, current and past Avenger, Queen of Wakanda, Regent of Arakko - but the new Storm series will see the woman become a walking myth, as Ororo transforms into the Eternal Storm and officially becomes a god.
The Omega-level mutant Storm has been called a goddess countless times over the years, including the god Thor dubbing her the Goddess of Thunder, but the powerful hero has never truly been considered a god in the Marvel Cosmic Order.
The new Storm solo series - from writer Murewa Ayodele with artist Lucas Werneck - seeks to change that, with the cosmic entity known as Eternity deeming Ororo Munroe "worthy" in the conclusion to the issue, before dubbing the hero, "My Eternal Storm." This godly form for Storm comes with an incredible new costume designed by Lucas Werneck and will see the beloved X-Men leader become an avatar for Eternity.
Eternity Is Welcoming Storm To True Godhood
And Ororo will need to be a god to take on Oblivion...
The African princess Ororo hails from a long line of magical priestesses, including the ancient Sorcerer Supreme Ayesha of Balobedu and Ashake, the latter of whom Storm spoke to during The Resurrection of Magneto. In recent years, Storm has leaned more into the magical side of her soul, and it seems clear that her new cosmic destiny will need her to find a balance between magic and mutantdom. The writer for Storm, Murewa Ayodele, has stated that Storm is not a Marvel Cosmic comic, meaning that Ororo's path to godhood will remain on Earth, and not in the stars.

"The Storm Sanctuary": X-Men's Storm Debuts Her Epic New Headquarters as a Solo Hero
Storm's new solo series will introduce her "Sanctuary," a new headquarters for the hero, as she continues to be elevated to one of Marvel's top stars.
Storm #1 ends with Eternity recognizing Storm's strength and resilience, using the classic "To me, my X-Men" call to summon up the Eternal Storm. The recent G.O.D.S. limited series saw many cosmic deities - like Eternity, the In-Betweener, and Oblivion - take on "human form" or use avatars in the human world to achieve their goals or spread their message. Interestingly, Storm is one of the few mortal characters at Marvel who has ever been able to become an avatar for Eternity. In Fantastic Four #550 Eternity and the universe are on the brink of death due to an infection, and Doctor Strange says that he and Storm are the only two with the strength of spirit to house the entity, leading to Storm holding the entire consciousness of Eternity in her mind, a mind-boggling feat.
Ayodele recently revealed on the Cerebro podcast that the main antagonist of Storm is going to be Oblivion, another abstract entity that just so happens to hate Eternity, as they are in constant opposition. Oblivion was also a key player in G.O.D.S. and his latest plans for universal collapse failed, meaning he is on the prowl for another universe-ending ploy. Oblivion's terrifying new snake form is seen battling against Storm - seemingly holding an epic spear made from lightning - in the gorgeous piece of art illustrated above by Ayodele's collaborator Dotun Akande. Oblivion is a dangerous and unpredictable foe, so Eternity will need to transform Storm into a true goddess if she ever hopes to defeat the essence of non-existence.
The Eternal Storm's Costume Is Absolutely Gorgeous
Lucas Werneck is truly the master of Marvel design looks
How exactly the "Eternal Storm" will manifest is yet to be seen, but it will surely shake the foundations of Earth-616. Of course, with every epic Marvel transformation comes an even more iconic costume, and that is no different for the Eternal Storm. Ororo's new look features a gorgeous white and gold design - a modern update to her classic caped look - while incorporating Storm's original headpiece, a beautiful nod to her history and legacy. Ayodele has revealed in a tweet that the Eternal Storm will be seen again very soon and that the return "is going to be epic," with costume designer Lucas Werneck stating that his intention for the costume was to mix godhood with humanity.

Storm's New Costume Gives Her Iconic Silver Suit A Redesign For X-Men's New Era
Storm has a new costume to kick off a new era for Marvel Comics, which represents her journey as a solo hero and Omega-level superstar.
Storm has always been destined for godhood, so it is exciting to finally see a cosmic deity recognize her true potential. Over the years Ororo has done countless heroic acts alongside the X-Men that could be, and have been, seen as acts of god, making Eternity noticing the beloved hero not surprising in the least. Storm will need every power granted to her by her birth and Eternity if she ever has a chance to defeat Oblivion as the Eternal Storm!
