The X-Men ’s mutant population possesses some mutant abilities so inconceivably powerful that they must be distinguished from the rest. These “Omega-level” mutants have no limit to their potential, bordering the ability to evolve into god-like beings. However, while the status of some of the X-Men’s Omega-level heroes, like Jean Grey or Storm, is popularly well-known, not every Omega-level is as Omega-memorable.
Marvel has made it difficult to clearly define what an Omega-level mutant is. For decades, Marvel has thrown around interchangeable like “Class Omega,” “Omega Mutants,” or “Omega Level” (without the hyphen). It’s silly, but these clarification issues often lead to debates among readers about which mutants are Omega-level. Marvel also frequently avoids confirming non-Earth-616 mutants to the list.
Fortunately, in X-Men #13 (2025), it has been confirmed that any mutant whose powers have no discernible upper limit fit the criteria to be classified as Omega-level. However, for these 10 Omega-level mutants, it is worth sticking to official confirmations.
10 Genesis (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Chlorokinesis)
Classified In: X-Men #6 (Released In 2019)
Genesis, sometimes referred to as the Mother of Arakko, is popularly ed as the wife of Apocalypse and mother of the first Four Horsemen. She is an ancient mutant who hails from Okkara, the progenitor of both Krakoa and Arakko, long before the sentient island was split by Annihilation. While Apocalypse stayed behind on Earth, Genesis led her new Arakkii civilization into the fray of Amenth. As Arakko developed, she established the Great Ring of Arakko, which often consists of only Omega-level mutants.
Genesis has the mutant ability to control all plant and fungal life within her relative proximity. Genesis can even manipulate microscopic plant life, once using this power to lethally weaponize the micro-fungus inside her opponent’s body. But, , Omega-levels are defined by their lack of upward limitations. During the “Genesis War,” the mutant queen had proven her absolute mastery over plant life by commanding the sentient island of Arakko to her will. If she wished, Genesis could feasibly control an entire planet with enough vegetation.
9 Sobunar Of The Depths (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Oceanic Blood)
Classified In: X-Men: Red #14 (Released In 2023)
Sobunar III is another of Arakko’s mighty Omega-level mutants . Like Genesis, Sobunar served as a peacetime member of the Great Ring of Arakko in the “Seat of Below-Us” to oversee all ocean-related issues. The mutant leader is often an advocate for peace but has called upon his oceanic powers to unleash devastating assaults by his deep-sea spawns and the water itself. However, the Arakkii mutant’s power is far greater than simple water manipulation.

X-Men's Omega Level Mutants Are Legendary, But What Are They?
The X-Men are undeniably powerful, but some gifts are stronger than others. "Omega" hasn't always had a clear definition, but the term has value.
Sobunar’s mutant ability has transformed his blood into a complete marine ecosystem, primed with the exact elements, nutrients, and lifeforms to create new but well-developed oceans. During Arakko’s recolonization on Mars, Sobunar used his power to aid in the terraforming process and transformed large swaths of the barren planet into self-sustaining aquatic habitats. Moreover, Sobunar can sense anything that is inside his created oceans, practically giving him planetary surveillance on heavily oceanic planets like Earth.
8 Vulcan, AKA Gabriel Summers (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Energy Manipulation)
Classified In: X-Men #6 (Released In 2019)
Gabriel Summers is the youngest of the Summers brothers and one of the few Omega-level mutants in the family line. However, he was not always considered an Omega-level himself; Vulcan has the mutant power to psionically absorb and manipulate all forms of energy, including light, heat, kinetic force, cosmic, the Nova Force, and so on. While the Summers brother was originally considered one of the weaker in the family, he has since evolved past his original mortal limits.
In the wake of M-Day, all the powers that the Scarlet Witch stole from the mutants reconstituted as raw energy. In X-Men: Deadly Genesis #1 (2005), Vulcan, who was fused with the mutant Darwin at the time, absorbed the energy of mutantkind’s collective power. This explosion of raw energy transformed Vulcan into a god-like being, free from death, and made into a master over one of the Multiverse’s fundamental building blocks. Since his evolution, Professor X has personally noted that Gabriel Summers is “past Omega.”
7 Orrdon The Living Star (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Self-Propulsion)
Classified In: X-Men: Red #14 (2023)
Orrdon is, ittedly, an incredibly minor character who died in the very same issue he debuted. In the wake of the Genesis War, Genesis seceded from the Great Ring of Arakko and placed Orrdon in Storm’s old seat in the “Seat of Loss.” Orrdon’s mutant ability effectively transforms him into a living rocket. Nova later confirms during the war that the mutant’s speed exponentially grows the longer he flies. Hypothetically, by using Marvel’s other speedsters as a metric, this would eventually give Orrdon the power to travel faster than light and pierce through the barriers that hold reality together.

X-Men's Krakoa Era Was Marvelous, But Please! Stop Calling For Its Return
While the Krakoa Era was great, Marvel needs to avoid going back. The X-Men are finally facing a new Golden Era defined by new stories and old tropes.
However, Orrdon the Living Star’s fate did not favor him. In X-Men: Red #14, the very same issue in which he debuted, Orrdon speeds toward Nova and Sunspot but unknowingly flies over the territory of Isca the Unbeaten. No matter how fast Orrdon flew, there was nothing he could have done to overcome Isca’s mutant power. The high-speed mutant is pierced through his head by one of Isca’s arrows, killing him instantly. While he may not have been around for long, his Omega-level powers could have transformed Orrdon into something greater.
6 Askani, AKA Rachel Summers Of Earth-811 (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Psionic Manipulation)
Classified In: Uncanny X-Men #208 (Released In 1986)
So, technically speaking, Marvel hasn’t officially reconfirmed Rachel Summers’s status as an Omega-level mutant . In House of X #1 (2019), Marvel released an updated list of Krakoa’s officially recognized Omega-level mutants. However, as Krakoa did not allow non-Earth-616 mutants to officially their nation, Rachel Summers was excluded. That said, in Uncanny X-Men #208 (1986), Nimrod classified Rachel as a “Class Omega” mutant and specifically noted that an “upper limit of [Rachel’s] abilities has yet to be determined.”
Rachel Summers hails from an alternate dimension plagued by a ruling class of mutant-hunting Sentinels. As the daughter of Jean Grey and Cyclops , Rachel inherited all of her mother’s Omega-level psionic abilities and later attracted the attention of the Phoenix Force. Rachel’s telepathic abilities are so overwhelmingly powerful that the X-Man can reach any mind throughout time and the Multiverse. Her telekinetic abilities are just as awe-inducing; previously, Rachel has been shown to be able to alter subatomic structures, change genomic patterns, and conjure black holes.
5 Brian Morrison (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Cosmic Energy Generation)
Classified In: X-Men: Gold #36 (Released In 2018)
While Brian Morrison is an especially unknown Marvel mutant , he is still one of the X-Men’s most powerfully adept Omega-level heroes. When Brian’s powers first manifested, he accidentally unleashed a cataclysmic cosmic shockwave that decimated everything within his vicinity. Cerebro immediately noticed the Omega-level power spike, and the X-Men responded to recruit a hopeful new ally. Though Brian believed he was too much of a threat to keep alive, still, the X-Men reached out a hand.

X-Men Has a Rather Big Beast Problem, But It Won't Be Fixed Anytime Soon
Beast's villainous turn remains a contentious issue among X-Men readers, and it looks like there's no solution in sight to redeem this X-Men hero.
Brian hasn’t appeared in many X-Men comics , so it’s hard to fully define what the mutant is capable of. Unlike other Omega-level energy manipulators, Brian can generate his own limitless cosmic energy. Like other cosmic beings, this power could grant Brian the ability to create, destroy, and manipulate reality as he sees fit. Furthermore, cosmic energy has gifted others even more god-like powers, such as multiversal teleportation, chronomancy, and immortality.
4 Stryfe, AKA Nathan Summers Of Earth-4935 (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Psionic Manipulation)
Classified In: Cable and X-Force #19 (Released In 2014)
Stryfe, much like Rachel Summers, hasn’t technically been given an Omega-level classification in Earth-616. However, because Stryfe is genetically identical to Cable , who is ed as an Omega-level mutant, Stryfe must be as well. Marvel has yet to officially confirm this, but in Cable and X-Force #19 (2014), both Cable and Stryfe assume that the clone shares Cable’s Omega-level status; however, Stryfe possesses far greater potential than his clone “brother.”
In his home reality, Stryfe was raised to become Apocalypse’s vessel. Trained from a young age to harness Madelyne Pryor’s genetically imbued powers, Stryfe has near-identical powers to his genetic template, Jean Grey. Additionally, Stryfe doesn’t suffer from the limitations that Cable faces ; free from the Techno-Organic Virus, Stryfe’s psionic abilities are completely free to wreak the havoc that often follows his conquests. ittedly, however, this version of Nate Summers has yet to fully explore the powers a descendant of Jean Grey should be capable of.
3 Monarch, AKA Jamie Braddock Jr. (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Quantum Reality Manipulation)
Classified In: House of X #1 (Released In 2019)
The eldest of the Braddock family , Jamie is, by far, the most powerful of the family. While his younger sister Betsy’s psionic abilities are impressive, Jamie has the power to manipulate reality at the quantum level. The villain has previously stated that he sees reality as a weaving of invisible strings that he can manipulate at will. Like other reality manipulators, Jamie possesses god-like abilities that have only served to bolster his superiority complex and villainous demeanor.

Am I the Only One Who's Tired of X-Men Making Professor Xavier the Bad Guy?
Xavier's turn toward villainy was inevitable, but it never should have happened in the first place. It's okay for some characters to be perfect.
Among his many transcendent abilities, Monarch can bestow, alter, or remove a person’s powers, potentially even having the ability to create other Omega-level mutants . With a single thought, Jamie can create or destroy objects and people at will. But most impressively, Jamie Braddock has the power to manipulate and control timelines. Unlike other chronopaths or chronomancers, Jamie can easily split and maintain numerous timelines at once, successfully creating new pocket realities completely under his control.
2 Mister M, AKA Absolon Marcator (Omega-Level Mutant Power: Matter Manipulation)
Classified In: House of X #1 (Released In 2019)
Mister M is a particularly interesting and funny mutant because, despite his immeasurable power, he has no interest in participating in major mutant affairs. Following M-Day , Absolon was one of the few mutants who somehow retained their powers and soon became the leader of a group of mutant refugees called “The 198.” Soon after, his political adversaries “successfully” assassinated Mister M, who reformed that night into a colony of butterflies with a single message: “Some things do not die… THEY EVOLVE!”
Since then, the X-Men and their allies have turned to the transmutational mutant for his power, but Absolon has more or less refused each time. When Krakoa invited Mr. M to their early ranks, he said no. When Apocalypse entrusted the Siege Perilous to Mr. M’s care, he accepted under the condition that he could do whatever he wanted with it. Mister M, similar to other matter-manipulating beings like Molecule Man, sees life differently than most. To Absolon Marcator, tangible existence is only whatever he wishes it to become. He does not fear change because he is change.
1 Santa Claus (Omega-Level Mutant Power: ???)
Classified In: Marvel Holiday Special #1 (1991)
Santa Claus is by far Marvel’s most powerful mutant , whose powers are so vast that they have yet to be fully defined. The jolly ole’ gift-bearer first came into existence through the collective beliefs of different cultures’ depictions of Father Christmas and thus possesses all the varied powers Santa Claus is known for. While Santa has never been explicitly labeled as an Omega-level mutant, in Marvel Holiday Special #1 (1991), Cerebro noted that Santa was the “most powerful mutant ever ed.”

15 Strongest X-Men Villains of All Time (Ranked by Physical Strength)
The X-Men's strongest enemies redefine mutant muscle, including multiple Omega-level villains who have reached Hulk-tier strength.
Among Saint Nick’s numerous mutant gifts, Santa Claus uses reality-warping powers to summon presents for the good, shrink and expand matter, and create pocket dimensions such as his “magical” bag. Santa also possesses cosmic awareness that allows him to discern whether people have been good or bad or if they are sleeping. Kris Kringle frequently relies on time-warping abilities to ensure all his presents are delivered. Most impressively, Santa Claus is the only confirmed mutant to have the ability to break the fourth wall, truly cementing his terrifying omniversal powers as the X-Men’s most powerful mutant.
