Marvel's Phoenix Solo Series Is Taking Jean Grey To An Entirely New Level Of Power
Phoenix #2 – Written By Stephanie Phillips, Art By Alessandro Miracolo, David Curiel, & Corey Petit
With the development that Jean no longer has to eat or breathe air like the standard human or mutant would, she only becomes less mortal and more of a divine being in the Marvel Universe.
With Jean venturing out on solo adventures in Phoenix, her character is given more opportunity to be established as a major powerhouse hero despite their complicated past. Jean Grey was one of the fallout of the Dark Phoenix saga.
Already a profoundly powerful telepath and telekinetic since her mutant abilities kicked in, Jean’s powers are amplified when she’s in touch with the Phoenix Force. The extraterrestrial force heightens Jean to a transcendent, godlike status when they come together as the Phoenix. She is then able to absorb and manipulate energy, travel through space, control life-forces, and many more abilities. With the development that Jean no longer has to eat or breathe air like the standard human or mutant would, she only becomes less mortal and more of a divine being in the Marvel Universe.

An Extended Family Team-Up
The extraordinary extent of Jean Grey’s godly power as the Phoenix helps her stand apart from the vast majority of the X-Men and Marvel’s mighty heroes overall.
Leaving the X-Men behind to further explore her and the Phoenix’s connection and power in the cosmos, Jean Grey’s solo title takes her to new corners of the universe with special guests along the way. After Nova appears in the first issue of her new series, Jean’s father-in-law and leader of the Starjammers will her on her latest mission. Corsair, patriarch of the Summers family, will have an intergalactic team-up with his ultra-powerful daughter-in-law as she continues to redefine the meaning of the Phoenix across the galaxy.
Though her mutant abilities already bring her to Omega-level status, combining with the Phoenix Force solidifies Jean as an extremely formidable cosmic force to be reckoned with. Her grand solo journey with Phillips at the helm will continue to specify just how the cosmic force has redefined the character as a superhero in the universe, especially as her mortal necessities are made less and less of a factor.
