Roman Reigns Returns At The Garden
The OTC And His Wiseman Just Set Punk And Rollins's Road To WrestleMania Ablaze
After not being seen since Seth Rollins's hatred boiled over towards him at the Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns returned to WWE in emphatic fashion at Monday Night Raw in Madison Square Garden. There was none of the usual dimming of lights and all of the music, crowd rising to their feet, and pomp and circumstance that comes with The Tribal Chief's arrival. Just a furious man roaring out of the crowd with an axe to grind in the world's most famous arena.
For 30 mins prior to Roman's arrival, CM Punk and Seth Rollins's Steel Cage was one for the ages. The hate is so real you can feel it, and the intensity gripped so tightly for every ing 2-count that this match felt like WrestleMania had come early. Seth would have his revenge and his first victory over Punk, even if he didn't know anything about it, as Roman dragged him out of the cage. Rollins won't even care about the beating he took tonight, as Seth successfully ruined Punk's WrestleMania quest for the second time in as many weeks.
As if all of this wasn't enough, the biggest incidents would come at the end of the match. Punk lay crestfallen in the center of the ring and was attended to by Paul Heyman. Reigns would pull a series of hard-to-read facial expressions as he noticed this, before hitting the cage and dismantling Punk, the man who helped him at WarGames when the whole locker room turned their back on him. It was a superb end to a sensational match, and promises the three men's incoming carnage will be one of the highlights of WrestleMania season.
Something's Brewing In The Women's Division
Two Phenomenal Segments Are Making The Case For The Ladies At WrestleMania
Even the most ardent of Damage CTRL fans will have to it, Iyo Sky's shock victory last week threw WrestleMania into chaos of the best kind. Sky has done a superb job of transitioning from a dastardly Bayley-baiting villain into Raw's sweetheart across 2024, and her reward is walking into WrestleMania with the WWE Championship. The only surprise is that Iyo's victory came so close to the biggest show of the year, not that she's the women's division's top dog. This segment reinforced that Sky is very much the champion right now.
Beneath the title holder, Bianca and Rhea Ripley's words for each other hit hard as hell. Rhea pointing out that Belair is currently unstable because of all of the fighting in her hen house with Naomi and Jade Cargill was a zinger. Bianca's reply that Ripley was finding excuses for The Eradicator now being 4-0 against Iyo really did make it all sound like sour grapes from the former champ. It's all teetering deliciously, as Ripley needs to find a way back into the WrestleMania title picture. Getting there is going to be great.
The Judgment Day will have a huge Raw on next week's show, with Finn challenging Bron Breakker for the Intercontinental Championship, and Raquel Rodriguez challenging Lyra Valkyria for her title. This was another great segment in the women's division, Bianca carried on her great form from SmackDown, Rhea's predicament is compelling, and Iyo Sky reminded everyone who's going in to Mania as Champion and why. The night was stolen by a fantastic cage match and Roman Reigns's return. Much online crying has been done about the idea of a Reigns/Rollins/Punk triple threat at WrestleMania but Paul Heyman's involvement and the crazy end to this match will have many second-guessing that skepticism.
