WARNING: Contains Potential Spoilers for Batman: The Brave and the Bold #15!For two years, I've felt that my Wonder Woman cosplay costume was missing something essential. Despite having every detail from the thigh-high boots to the gladiator skirt and red star tiara, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Finally, I've discovered the missing piece to complete my look, and it's all thanks to Booster Gold.
Seeing Wonder Woman donning her iconic cloak from her Rebirth design felt like finding the answer to a question I had been searching years for.
If you had asked me where I thought I'd find my next piece of cosplay inspiration for the Amazon Princess, I probably would have pointed to Tom King’s Wonder Woman run or the Wonder Woman: Uncovered #1, which showcases the best and most eye-catching covers of Diana Prince. Yet, it wasn't either of these books that sparked my latest bout of Wonder Woman inspiration.
Instead, my inspiration came from a Booster Gold-centric story in Batman: The Brave and the Bold #15—specifically, Mark Russell and Jon Mikel’s three-part story, Time Jerks, which spotlighted Booster’s adventures with both the Justice League and their dinosaur counterparts, the Jurassic League.
I've FINALLY Figured Out What My Wonder Woman Cosplay Is Missing, Thanks to Booster Gold
After discovering that an asteroid is about to collide with Earth and cause the extinction of the human race, Booster Gold seeks out the Justice League for help. During this moment in Russell and Mikel’s Time Jerks, I caught my first glimpse of Diana since the start of the story, and it was a revelation. Seeing Wonder Woman donning her iconic cloak from her Rebirth design felt like finding the answer to a question I had been searching years for—one that had been right in front of me all along. The cloak was the missing piece to my Wonder Woman cosplay.
Despite considering myself a Wonder Woman stan, I had overlooked one of her most significant design changes in the last decade. I even own multiple Rebirth issues, yet it wasn’t until I saw Diana in this Booster Gold-centric story that it hit me. I'm now exceptionally excited to visit JoAnn’s Fabrics and find the most luxurious and thick material to start working on a cloak. Not only will it complete my Wonder Woman cosplay, but it will also keep me warm during future chilly Halloweens.
The BIG Question: Should My Cosplay Feature Wonder Woman's Blue or Red Cloak
After seeing Wonder Woman’s cloak in Time Jerks, I decided to pore over my Rebirth volumes for more detailed images to use as reference for my own design. I found some great shots, especially on the covers, and was reminded that Diana wore multiple cloaks during her Rebirth era, most notably a red one and a blue one. Now, I face another conundrum: do I go with the red or blue cloak? I'm leaning towards the red at the moment because it exudes a type of regalness and power that I often associate with Wonder Woman, but I’m always open to suggestions.
