When it comes to League like Superman or Batman. Meanwhile, the Scarlet Speedster is usually paired with the brave and bold Green Lantern.
Wonder Woman and the Flash may not seem like the most obvious pairing, and in fact many may think they have little in common. After all, Diana is a mythical princess form and ancient and magical civilization while Wally West is a blue-collar human from a small Midwestern town. But despite their differences, or perhaps because of them, Wonder Woman and the Flash bounce incredibly well off one another – and they’ve proven it time and time again.
After Diana is blinded in a fight with Medousa in 2005's Wonder Woman #210 by Greg Rucka and Drew Johnson, the Flash is one of the first heroes to see a more active role in Justice League affairs, with West noting to himself, “a compliment from her still makes me grin like a first grader with a crush on his homeroom teacher.”
Wonder Woman and Flash Push Each Other to Be Better
Though both heroes have more iconic friendships, both Wonder Woman and the Flash have the potential to bring out the best in one another in largely unexplored ways. After all, during “Truth or Dare,” Wally tells Diana that she’s got no idea what it’s like to be human, and he’s right. Despite her close human associates like Steve Trevor or Etta Candy, Diana is a creature of myth, and neither Superman nor Batman are the best examples of what a normal human life looks like. The Flash may be the Fastest Man Alive, but he grew up with a normal childhood in a similar Midwestern background to Clark Kent without the burden of alien heritage weighing him down. More so than most of the Justice League, the Flash makes time for the everyday citizens he serves and protects. As such, he can help to connect Wonder Woman more to humanity while she simultaneously pushes him to be the best hero that he can be – as he’s itted she already does.
Wonder Woman and the Flash are two of the world’s greatest heroes, but their own unique dynamic has been highly under-explored. While both Wally and Diana have better known friendships with other heroes, that shouldn’t undercut the potential their special relationship holds. Among the Justice League’s pantheon, it’s clear that Wonder Woman and the Flash have the most underrated friendship in DC Comics.
