Warning! Spoilers ahead Dark Knights of Steel #3

Recently, Wonder Woman has finally made her true debut in the latest issue of DC's Dark Knights of Steel, gaining an epic new role as she seeks to prevent an all-out war of kingdoms in the face of a dark prophecy. While her mother and the rest of the Amazons have pledged their swords to King Jefferson and his Kingdom of Storms against the Kingdom of El, Princess Diana has chosen to seek another solution in the hopes of avoiding further bloodshed, providing her with a brave new quest and dynamic reason for leaving her people on Amazon Island.

Previously in Dark Knights of Steel from Tom Taylor and Yasmine Putri, John Constantine has a prophetic vision that would see demons taking over the world, a prophecy King Jefferson took as a sign that the Kryptonians who fell from the sky before ruling their own kingdom would bring devastation to the realm. As such, the Green Man and archer Oliver Queen were hired to kill King Jor-El in the series' first issue, an act which led to Jor-El's daughter Zala seeking revenge and killing King Jefferson's son Prince Jacob in the second issue.

Now, the Kingdom of Storms calls upon the Amazons to lend their swords as their trusted allies in Dark Knights of Steel #3 against the surviving Els. While Wonder Woman is vehemently opposed to the coming war caused by a prophecy that may or may not be about the Kryptonians at all, her mother is still choosing to go to war alongside King Jefferson. This motivates Princess Diana to leave along with Lois Lane, departing Amazon Island on a quest to hopefully bring peace to the realm rather than allowing a bloody war to break out over a vague prophecy.

While Wonder Woman effectively commits treason in this issue, her intentions are as noble as they come. However, the issue does end with King Jefferson being the next noble to die, being stabbed in the back by Zala Jor-El who promises an end to all kings. Not only does this make Wonder Woman's new mission that much more pressing, but it will likely be even more difficult to bring about a peaceful resolution now that both heads of the rival kingdoms have been slain.

Regardless, it will certainly be exciting to see Diana potentially interact with the other of the DC Trinity in this alternate medieval reality. Will Batman try to arrest her just as he has with other metahumans, believing them to be magical threats that could harm the House of El? Furthermore, how will Superman respond to Wonder Woman (and Lois), seeing as how they're coming from known allies of the kingdom responsible for killing his father? Fans will just have to wait and see as Dark Knights of Steel continues.
