Wonder Woman has just undergone a bold and dangerous costume upgrade, one that equips her to carry a very special kind of cargo. Fans might feel a sense of déjà vu with this new look, and it’s no surprise given that legendary creator Frank Miller first introduced a strikingly similar design nearly a decade ago.
DC recently released its July solicitations, offering fans a treasure trove of cover art and synopses to explore. While there is plenty to get excited about, one cover stands out above the rest. Daniel Sampere’s main cover for Wonder Woman #23 features Diana with a striking new costume upgrade that is impossible to miss: a backpack-style baby carrier, with infant Lizzie securely strapped in.
Paired with Diana’s Wonder Woman attire, the image strongly suggests she is heading into battle, making this upgrade particularly dangerous. After all, S most certainly wouldn't approve of this design, but Frank Miller definitely would.
Wonder Woman’s Battle Baby Carrier Is a Frank Miller-Approved Design

As previously mentioned, some fans may have experienced a sense of déjà vu upon seeing the main cover for Wonder Woman #23, and that is likely because it echoes Frank Miller’s variant cover for Dark Knight III: The Master Race #4 (2016). That cover featured Miller’s distinct take on Diana, dressed in black fishnets, red go-go boots, star-spangled shorts, and a golden bikini-style top. However, the most notable similarity between the two covers is the baby strapped to Diana’s back. It is a bold and memorable image, one that Miller introduced first, which makes it easy to imagine he would fully approve of this latest design.
Since Sampere’s cover serves as the main cover art for this issue of Tom King’s Wonder Woman run, it seems likely that the baby carrier and Lizzie will appear in the narrative. Seeing Diana wear the carrier alongside her classic Wonder Woman costume would be a powerful visual, especially considering that King and Sampere have so far kept her roles as mother and hero separate. If Diana is shown carrying Lizzie while suited up as Wonder Woman, it would mark the moment when these two identities fully converge. It will be interesting to see what specific event leads to this merging of roles, if that does turn out to be the case.

Batman Just Convinced Me Catwoman Isn’t His True Love, But [SPOILER] Is
Catwoman and Batman may be iconic, but a new comic just convinced me that DC robbed us of what could have been the Dark Knight’s greatest romance.
Did Wonder Woman Just Get a Teddy Bear-Sized Sidekick?
Cover E 1:25 Yasmine Putri Variant for Wonder Woman #23 (2025)
Diana wearing her Wonder Woman costume suggests she is entering a situation where she anticipates some level of confrontation and needs to be prepared for battle. Bringing Lizzie with her likely means she had no other choice, especially since she has gone to great lengths to keep her daughter away from danger, either caring for her personally or relying on her sisters to babysit. While Lizzie won’t be involved in any fighting, her presence in a potential conflict positions her as an honorary sidekick. If Sampere’s Wonder Woman cover is a true hint, fans could be in for some exciting mother-daughter moments ahead.
