Marvel’s Wolverine is an iconic member of the X-Men who often tweaks his look depending on what X-team he’s currently rostered on, with his various multiversal counterparts making their distinct mark on his visual legacy thanks to their unique non-canon designs exclusive to their alternate realities. In a new cosplay image, Wolverine’s Age of Apocalypse costume gets an updated look that proves it needs more screen time in the MCU.
Acting as the designer, model, photographer, and editor of each new cosplay post, @batsturd’s Instagram is full of comic-accurate and Hollywood-level costume designs that prove just how talented the cosplay community can be when they put their minds to something.

Wolverine’s Weapon X Persona Is the Age of Apocalypse Variant the MCU Needs To Explore More Of
Cosplay Design and Photo Edit by @batsturd
Making his comic debut as part of the dark timeline introduced in 1995’s Age of Apocalypse, Wolverine, or Weapon X as he’s known in this Apocalypse-ruled reality, was a member of Magneto’s X-Men team and lost his hand in a brutal fight against Cyclops, going on to replace it with a metal cap that similarly sprouted a set of adamantium-coated claws. Dressed in a red and black costume rather than his traditional blue and yellow design, Weapon X sports a sleeveless top and a more unruly head of hair, setting this Wolverine variant apart from his main Earth-616 counterpart.

Wolverine's New Adamantium Is Sick, But Marvel Wants Us to Know It Has a Cost
Wolverine is the best at what he does thanks to his healing factor and adamantium-coated claws with a new version of this metal having some drawbacks.
Placed against a lightened backdrop that helps this design pop, @batsturd poses with ferocious purpose and holds one clawed hand at the ready as he raises his other metal-capped one alongside it, promising to unleash its hidden adamantium surprise at a moment’s notice. Edited with piercing all-white eyes, @batsturd gives one of Logan’s patented snarls, reminding fans that this version of Wolverine isn’t a variant to mess with. Wearing Weapon X’s comic-accurate black sleeveless suit with red slash accents, @batsturd nails what makes this character work, proving that the character’s recent live-action debut needs to be expanded upon and soon.
Weapon X Made His Movie Debut in Deadpool and Wolverine With This Cosplay Matching That Live-Action Look
Having already made his official MCU debut thanks to a surprise cameo in last year’s Deadpool and Wolverine — as seen during the fan-pleasing sequence where Marvel’s Merc with a Mouth scours the multiverse for a replacement anchor being — Weapon X was unfortunately only onscreen for a few moments, with Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the character acting more as a nerd gag than anything else. So, until the powers that be decide to take this Age of Apocalypse Wolverine variant seriously in the MCU, fans should check out the rest of @batsturd’s incredible Weapon X cosplay images to tide themselves over!
