Contains Spoilers for Wolverine: Revenge #1!A new Wolverine comic has reimagined Colossus and Deadpool’s movie relationship in a twisted way, turning the two iconic characters into dangerous villains. In a Marvel Universe darker than the one fans are familiar with, this team up isn’t a lighthearted opportunity for jokes. Rather, the duo are envisioned as threatening the future of the entire world.
Wolverine: Revenge #1 – written by Jonathan Hickman, with art by Greg Capullo – subverts any expectations of the friendship between Deadpool and Colossus as both are revealed as part of the murderous new Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
As established in the issue, this version of the Brotherhood controls a cold reactor, the only thing that can restore power to half the world after Magneto’s death triggered a massive EMP. How long either member have been part of the Brotherhood is up in the air, but they’re full-on villains, acting on their worst impulses against the rest of the world.

In Revenge, Colossus and Deadpool are teammates for practical reasons, and there are no signs in the first issue that they care for each other beyond that, or that they’re even friendly at all.
While Colossus and Deadpool have orbited each other through various teams and books over the decades, it was their dynamic in Fox’s Deadpool movies that actually established a (reluctant) friendship between the two. Since then, books including writer Benjamin Percy’s recent X-Force run, have paired the two as team , even though their interpersonal relationship has not reached the levels it has in the cinematic realm. Still, the pairing has natural upsides; Deadpool is all snark and jokes, while Colossus is almost embarrassingly earnest and self-serious.
That said, the versions of the characters from Wolverine: Revenge have very little in common with their movie counterparts. So far, Deadpool has been portrayed closer to his original 1990s depiction, a ruthless mercenary with no regard for human life. Meanwhile, Colossus is more ideologically driven than ever, wishing to restore Russia’s dominance on the world stage via control over the world’s power supply. In Revenge, Colossus and Deadpool are teammates for practical reasons, and there are no signs in the first issue that they care for each other beyond that, or that they’re even friendly at all.
Even if there is a chance Wolverine can save either Colossus or Deadpool, the traditional allies are certain to come to blows before too long, as Logan’s path of bloody revenge commences.
