The X Lives and Deaths Of Wolverine takes the iconic X-Men character on a journey through his many and long lives. Over the years, Wolverine entered into romantic relationships with several characters in the comics. While the Fox X-Men movies leaned into his romance with Jean Grey, his future appearances may take inspiration from other significant loves.

Great Wolverine romances often involve figures from the X-Men such as Jean Grey and Storm. Others hail from very different backgrounds. They all tend to share tragedy in common, with his greatest loves dying (or appearing to). Some come back, making his latest story in the comics very interesting as he enters a unique cycle of life and death and love and loss.

Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in Logan) but he could find himself in a new romantic relationship. If so, the movie potentially draws from the character's long and complex love life in the comics. His romantic partners range from heroes to villains to both. They tend to come from similar backgrounds, like Elektra or Domino, with a history as spies, fighters, and mercenaries. That opens the door to appearances for those characters in the movie, which likely involves the crazy and unpredictable mercenary world Deadpool exists in.

Viper

Viper, also known as Madame Hydra, counts among Captain America's most powerful villains. She and Wolverine actually married, but it wasn't a happy occasion by any stretch. Viper and Wolverine married not out for love but because Wolverine owed her a personal debt, and she needed help securing her position in Madripoor, an important Marvel Comics fictional country.

Once his debt was satisfied and Viper consolidated her power in Madripoor's criminal underworld, the marriage ended. With Madripoor now in the MCU, Viper's appearance in live-action only increases.

Black Cat

Black Cat competes for Spider-Man's best love interest in Marvel Comics, and she also had a brief romance with Wolverine. The two make a brief but memorable connection in Wolverine & Black Cat: Claws, a limited series where the villain Arcade traps the pair in a typically elaborate game.

The two bicker and argue through the entire storyline, but it ends with them sharing a romantic dinner. Their relationship faded after, and depending on Black Cat's live-action status in the MCU or Sony Marvel Universe, their paths may never cross on screen.

Red Sonja

Red Sonja likely fails to emerge in fans' minds as Wolverine's best love interest, but the two actually enjoyed a brief romance. This unlikely relationship developed outside Marvel Comics continuity in What If? #16. In this issue, Wolverine winds up in the Hyborian Age where he meets Red Sonja.

He falls in love with her thanks to her resemblance to Jean Grey. He fights and defeats Conan The Barbarian, ultimately marrying Sonja and living happily ever after with her.

Domino

Domino served with Wolverine on the Uncanny X-Force, where their talents in spycraft and combat blended together nicely. They shared an instant attraction, entering into a relationship that remained casual for the duration. Neither sought more, despite the fact they shared a great deal in common.

With Domino making her screen debut in Deadpool 2, there exists at least a chance she meets Wolverine in the third movie and some romantic sparks fly.

Rogue

Wolverine and Rogue also share a lot in common. They both come from messy backgrounds and have powers others fear. Great potential exists between them thanks to her abilities, which limit her touching anyone since she would absorb their power and memory. Wolverine famously re little, making her an intriguing love interest.

Their potential remains unrealized through, save for one instance. In X-Men #169 from 2005, the romantic feelings both have for each emerge when they're exposed to an alien Golgotha. The unusual alien reveals their emotions and the two start kissing until the effect wears off.

Charlemagne

Charlemagne and Wolverine had been lovers in the past when she served as a clandestine spy who often worked with the KGB. Her past caught up to her in Spider-Man Vs. Wolverine #1 from 1987, and she died, but shockingly, at the hands of Spider-Man.

She holds the distinction of being the first person Spider-Man ever killed in Marvel Comics. Charlemagne tricked him into it, but this tragic event remains a bitter moment for Wolverine.

Elektra

Comic book fans know about Elektra formed an iconic romance with Daredevil, but in the MC2 alternate timeline in the comics, she and Wolverine fell in love. They also had a daughter Rina, who grew up to become the superhero known as Wild Thing.

Elektra and Logan make some sense together, as they both trained in the same disciplines and number among the best martial artists in the Marvel Universe. They also flirt a bit in the main Marvel Universe Earth-616.

Hercules

In the Earth-12025 alternate universe, Wolverine fell in love with Hercules. This power couple combined Hercules' god-like strength and Wolverine's adamantine-laced skeleton and claws. Despite this, the two encountered turbulence due to the gods looking on it unfavorably.

Zeus objected to their romance because he wouldn't allow anyone but himself to take mortals for mates, leaving the couple to live in exile. With Hercules now in the MCU, the door opens to a potential romance with Wolverine in live-action.

Itsu

Itsu and Logan married while he was living in Japan in the early 20th century. They had a son who would grow up to become Daken, an underrated Wolverine comic book villain. The Winter Soldier, a brainwashed Bucky Barnes, brutally murdered Itsu on behalf of Romulus, the enemy of Wolverine's master.

Her death led to Wolverine leaving Japan, mistakenly believing his unborn son had been killed as well. This led to tragic complications years later that the MCU potentially adapts in live-action.

Mystique

Comic book fans know Mystique is a very complex character in the Marvel Universe. That complexity comes in part due to her relationship with Wolverine. The two shared a physical relationship at times in the past, revealed in flashbacks, though it isn't necessarily romantic.

The two also share an ongoing attraction going back to the early 20th century. Though there is enormous animosity between them - Wolverine actually killed Mystique at one point - the connection between them remains powerful.
