Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Will Trent season 3, episode 7, "Mariachi Shelly's Frankenstein."

Will and Angie's relationship has been at the forefront of main Will Trent characters have known each other since they were kids. They grew up in the foster care system alongside one another, meaning they know just about everything there is to know about one another. Despite their closeness and history, the police procedural series has proven why Will and Angie's relationship shouldn't be romantic throughout its three seasons.

ABC releases new episodes of Will Trent air on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET. Season 3 is expected to have 18 episodes.

Will and Angie's love story began when they were teenagers. Due to their circumstances, their friendship growing into something more was inevitable. About two decades later, though, the state of Will and Angie's on-and-off relationship is simply toxic and frankly exhausting to watch. Will arresting Angie at the end of Will Trent season 2's finale was seemingly the one thing they needed to finally move on from one another. However, that doesn't mean they can't remain friends and great co-workers, as witnessed in Will Trent season 3, episode 7, "Mariachi Shelly's Frankenstein."

Will & Angie Work Well Together In Will Trent Season 3, Episode 7

The Former Couple Saves The Day

Picking up where the previous hour left off, Will Trent season 3, episode 7 concludes John Shelley's story, with the Atlanta Police Department and Georgia Bureau of Investigation working together to exonerate him of his crimes. The characters get trapped in the building with the real killer when the power goes out. Part of the team helps to save Caroline, Amanda's assistant, who the murderer stabs and leaves for dead. Meanwhile, Will and Angie team up to uncover the perpetrator's identity and find him before he kills anyone else (like Marion).

The former couple are forced to work together in "Mariachi Shelly's Frankenstein." However, that seemingly doesn't bother them, thanks to the urgency of the situation. Will and Angie put aside the awkward tension that has lingered between them ever since Angie got her job back in Will Trent season 3, episode 3, to solve the case. And they're successful. Will and Angie easily exonerate one suspect and find and subdue the actual killer (District Attorney Freddy Markovic) as a unit. The way they are able to communicate with one another when finding Freddy is especially impressive.

Romance Would Only Hinder Will & Angie's Working Relationship

Being A Couple Would Be Disastrous For Will & Angie's Work Life

As proven by Will and Angie's scenes in episode 7, the two Will Trent season 3 characters make for a great team. They shouldn't let romantic feelings get in the way of that. Work romances typically don't turn out well, and they usually only hurt rather than help the individuals' performances while on the job. It surely doesn't help when said characters have a complicated history. So, to maintain their successful working relationship, a Will and Angie romance shouldn't happen (again).

Will Trent Season 3 Highlights That Angie Is Not Will's Most Important Relationship

Will and Angie’s dynamic has been at the center of Will Trent’s story since the beginning, but that doesn’t mean it’s his most important relationship.

Over the course of the first two seasons of Will Trent, Will and Angie rarely worked together to solve cases. However, that is seemingly changing as time goes on. Will, Angie, Faith, and Ormewood are consistently teaming up, and if they want this situation to remain uncomplicated, Will and Angie shouldn't get back together in Will Trent season 3. Unfortunately, maintaining their great working relationship isn't the only reason why Will and Angie must remain friends, meaning the odds are stacked against them (which is for the best).

Episode 7 Showcases Will & Marion's Potential As A Couple

Will & Marion Have Great Chemistry

While Will Trent season 3, episode 7 proves why Will and Angie can't rekindle their romance, it also demonstrates Will and Marion's potential as a couple. Marion is the complete opposite of Angie, and that's a good thing. She and Will balance one another out, and they technically don't work directly with one another.

Will's concern for Marion when Freddy hurts her in "Mariachi Shelly's Frankenstein" is also sweet.

Although Will and Marion are only in the beginning stages of their relationship, there's no denying the chemistry between them. Will's concern for Marion when Freddy hurts her in "Mariachi Shelly's Frankenstein" is also sweet. It goes to show how much he already cares about her and how much potential they have as Will Trent season 3 continues.
