In "Best of Your Recollection," Will chases a parolee through an apartment building. The GBI agent peers around a corner and sees the criminal holding a gun. The sound of a door closing makes Will believe he is being shot at. Consequently, he shoots at the man twice. One of the bullets hits the man, while the other ricochets, enters another apartment, and strikes a 14-year-old boy. Ultimately, it's ruled an accident, but that doesn't erase the fact that Will has to live with this boy's death for the rest of his life. Unfortunately, that's not the only thing that goes wrong in the episode.

Faith Wants A New Partner After Discovering Will & Jeremy's Secret

The night before Will accidentally shoots the young boy in episode 11, he and Faith get into a big fight. The argument is shown through flashbacks, and viewers watch as Faith reacts to the revelation that Will made Jeremy (Faith's son) his confidential informant (CI) in Will Trent season 3, episode 9. Will explains that making Jeremy his CI was the only way to protect him after he was caught with drugs. However, Faith is still understandably upset and refuses to forgive Will. The next day, before the tragic incident, Faith drops a bomb on Will — she wants a new partner.

Faith is confident she will never be able to get over Will's betrayal, even if his heart was in the right place. As a result, she puts in a request for a new partner, leaving Will stunned. Faith does try to protect Will later on during her questioning about the shooting, but she seemingly doesn't change her mind. Her son means the world to her, and since Will put the young man in danger without telling her, Faith wants to work alongside anyone else but the main Will Trent character.

Angie Does Everything In Her Power To Exonerate Will

While Will and Faith's partnership is in shambles "Best of Your Recollection," Will and Angie's relationship demonstrates its durability. Despite everything that the two former lovers have been through since the end of Will Trent season 2, Angie works hard to prove Will's innocence throughout the hour. Angie (and Ormewood) are ultimately the ones who find the suspect's gun and get footage of the shooting that helps exonerate Will. She even shows up for him at the end of the episode to be a shoulder he can cry on.

Will Trent season 3, episode 11's devastating twist allows Will and Angie to prove that they will always be there for one another. Even if they'll never be together romantically again, Will and Angie's longstanding bond will preserve their friendship. They know each other better than anyone else, thanks to everything they have been through together. It would be difficult for all their history to be completely forgotten, even with Will arresting Angie. So, while "Best of Your Recollection" confirms Will and Angie will be okay one day, the same can't be said for Will and Faith.

Will's Most Important Relationship Now Is With Faith, So He Needs To Make Amends

Yes, Will and Angie have an unbreakable bond, but Will's connection with Faith is undoubtedly the most important one in his life in Will Trent season 3. The two partners have been through a lot together. They started out as somewhat enemies since Will got Faith's mother fired from the force. Nevertheless, Will and Faith slowly but surely formed a strong bond built on trust, mutual respect, and a deep understanding of one another. Now, they care for one another deeply, meaning Will must repair what is broken between them immediately.

Will must first put in the work to gain Faith's trust back in Will Trent season 3, which likely won't be an easy feat.

The good news is that forgiveness might be right around the corner for Will and Faith. During an interview with TVLine, Ramón Rodríguez teased what's to come for the duo. He said, "[Faith] wants a new partner. I don't think that's going to work out." Based on the actor's comments, it sounds like Will and Faith are staying partners in the series. However, Will must first put in the work to gain Faith's trust back in Will Trent season 3, which likely won't be an easy feat.
