This article contains spoilers for FBI season 7, episode 1.FBI season 7 cast. She was part of several important storylines during her time with the series, most notably at the end of season 6. Throughout that season, Tiffany struggled to deal with the death of her partner and friend, Thomas Hobbs and helped search for his killer.

The FBI season 6 finale ended with Tiffany fatally shooting Hakim, the man who killed Hobbs. Although she was cleared of any wrongdoing by the end of the episode, there was widespread speculation about whether she would be able to remain with the unit, given her traumatic response to the incident. Thus, the FBI season 7 update that Tiffany was leaving the series after the first episode was unsurprising, leaving open only the question of how she would be written out, and if it would be related to the Hakim shooting.

Katherine Renee Kane Left FBI For New Opportunities

The Actress Is Looking Forward To What's Next For Her

FBI's cast has been fairly stable for a series that has been on for seven years, and Kane has been part of the show since season 3. Thus, it was somewhat surprising that she left given the direction Tiffany's story was heading in season 6. It seemed like there was little more the character could do in a new season. However, Kane's exit appears to have been voluntary, and she had a good reason for deciding to move on from the popular police procedural.

The flagship series, FBI, has been a massive hit for CBS over the years, and the police procedural from Dick Wolf is renewed for season 8.

Kane explained her exit from FBI soon after it was announced, saying that she was looking forward to the new opportunities on the horizon. Like many actors who leave a successful, steady role, Kane wanted to explore other, different roles than the one she had played for four years. The actress' decision allowed both her and the series she was leaving behind to go in new creative directions that would not have been possible if she had decided to play Tiffany for a fifth year.

How FBI Season 7 Wrote Out Tiffany Wallace

The Character Had Decided To Leave Before Her Final Case

There had been widespread speculation that Tiffany would experience another traumatic event during her final case that would lead to her decision to quit. However, this theory was only half true, as Tiffany had already given notice and was working on her last case during FBI's season 7 premiere. This case included an intense search for international terrorists that resulted in Scola (John Boyd) sustaining a serious injury during a chase, leaving Tiffany to take care of him until medical help arrived. While this incident was not the reason she left, it reinforced her decision to move on.

Tiffany's exit leaves the door open for her to return in the future.

Throughout the episode, there were several references to this being Tiffany's last day without explaining what her plans were for the future. However, in the final minutes, Tiffany reminded Maggie that she was leaving town next week, limiting their time to have a final coffee and catch up, and the women discussed her post-FBI plans. This conversation revealed that Tiffany was moving to Georgia to work with her sister in a cafe, which would give her the peace she craved while healing from the trauma of Hobbs' death and her shooting Hakim.

What Katherine Renee Kane's Exit Means For FBI (& Who's Replacing Tiffany?)

The Unit Lost One Of Its Most Important

Tiffany was one of the unit's core , so her absence will have an impact. She was especially close with Scola, who was her partner in most cases and who will need from the team as he recovers from the knife injury he sustained during the chase. Although Scola's brush with death confirmed for Tiffany that she was making the right choice by leaving the unit, her decision to go ahead with her plans means she will not be in New York to help him.

FBI. Olivera will play a new agent named Syd, who is a behavioral analyst. Syd's role is to understand the psychological profile of the violent criminals the FBI is pursuing so that she can help the team predict where terrorists and serial killers will strike next. While this is an important addition to the FBI team, it may not make up for Tiffany's skills as an investigator and pursuer of suspects.

Other Actors Who Have Left FBI

Though The Cast Has Been Fairly Stable, There Have Been Some Notable Departures

FBI went through some cast changes during its earliest seasons, although there are still many characters who have been there from the beginning. Most notably, analyst Kristen Chazel (Ebonee Noel) left after season 2. Kristen was stabbed during the season and left to go to rehab. However, she did not get an on-screen exit like Tiffany did. Instead, her departure was explained after the fact, and Tiffany was introduced as her replacement.

In the majority of cases, actors left FBI voluntarily, most often to pursue other acting opportunities. However, Kathleen Munroe's character, Rina Trenholm, was killed off because the writers decided this was the best direction for her and Jubal's story. Thus, Trenholm was given a permanent send-off even though Munroe would have been willing to remain with the series. Conversely, Kane's Tiffany Wallace was written out in an open-ended manner that leaves the door open for guest appearances in the future.
