Although Severance season 2 shows Mark immediately after making it back to Lumon, a lot has happened since the season 1 finale. As Milchick reveals to Mark, five months have es since him and his coworkers pulled off their scheme. Despite the conditions that innies live in now being known to the outside world, Milchick says that Mark's outie has chosen to remain at Lumon, meaning that Mark will have to figure out another way to get out of the office.

Milchick Is Likely The One Watching Mark In Severance Season 2's Opening Scene

Around three minutes into the Severance season 2 premiere, a figure can be seen standing behind Mark. This mystery character is out of focus and in the distance, meaning that it is hard to tell who it is. However, the character looks like a man and has the body type of only one other Severance character: Milchick.

Milchick is the first returning character who Mark meets after returning to the Lumon office, so it isn't a stretch to say that Milchick was the one watching him. After all, Milchick knew that Mark was coming back, with the two encountering each other shortly after Mark ran around the halls. It is possible that the figure was someone else, but Milchick is the most likely candidate for who was stalking Mark.

What Was Mark Looking For In Severance Season 2's Opening Scene

It Was Probably Ms. Casey

Severance season 2 opens with a long sequence in which Mark is running around the halls of the Lumon building, with him seemingly looking for something. Although it isn't explicitly stated, it seems like Mark was looking for the Wellness Room, with him hoping to find Gemma/Ms. Casey. After all, Mark just learned that Ms. Casey is the seemingly dead wife of his outie, and he later mentions noticing that the Wellness Room was missing.

It is also possible that Mark was looking for Helly, Irving, and Dylan. They are the ones who pulled the escape off, and Mark immediately begins asking Milchick about his friends upon finding him. Although Mark does eventually find his friends, he still hasn't found Ms. Casey, with this most likely being one of his main goals throughout Severance season 2.
