With that in mind, McKinnon has been hesitant to discuss the Minecraft role in previous interviews. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McKinnon said, when she was asked about her involvement in the adaptation:

"I can’t say about any of [A Minecraft Movie], except I will say I've seen the animation and I think it is so special, and it looks so incredible. And on the theme of creativity and not losing your creativity, I think it's going to be an anthem for that. And I'm very excited to see the film."
