When it premiered in 1966, Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek was unlike any series audiences had ever seen. It's Utopian exploration of the 23rd century, in which viewers followed the five-year mission of Captain James T. Kirk and his multi-faceted crew, which was a bold contribution to not only the science fiction genre but network television in general.

The tempestuous Scotty, the perturbed Doc McCoy, the brazen Captain Kirk, and the reserved Mr. Spock - each of them had particularly recognizable traits that stood out and made them unique. Now you can find out which character from Star Trek: The Original Series you are based on your zodiac sign!

ARIES - KIRK

James Tiberius Kirk, the intrepid and daring captain of the USS Enterprise boldly went where no one had gone before, taking his crew on a five-year mission into space that promised the exploration of new life, while just as often bringing about danger, intrigue, and romance.

A lover and a fighter, Kirk perfectly embodies all of the qualities of an Aries; he's adventurous, full of energy, and isn't afraid to be a pioneer. He could be arrogant and selfish at times, but there was never any doubt that his quick-witted resourcefulness wasn't used to put his crew first.

TAURUS - CHRISTINE CHAPEL

Nurse Christine Chapel smirks towards the camera.

Nurse Christine Chapel took her duties very seriously, but had a loving bedside manner, and treated every patient that came under her care with courtesy, respect, and competence.

In true Taurus fashion, Christine was patient and reliable, often telling Doc McCoy that she was, "a nurse first, and a member of the crew of the Enterprise second". Her persistence shone the brightest when she developed feelings for Spock, and the unrequited nature of their relationship also brought out her jealous and resentful side.

GEMINI - CHEKOV

Walter Koenig as Pavel Chekov

Chekov had a lot of responsibilities despite being one of the youngest of the crew at 22. During his time under Captain Kirk's purview, his role became one of the most varied of all the officers thanks to his adaptability.

Like most Gemini, Chekov was versatile and witty, often remarking that most great historical feats could be attributed to his homeland. Though he didn't always trust himself, the faith that Kirk and others put in him buoyed his intellectual curiosity. This allowed him to take on other officers' roles, even serving as the science adviser (if Spock was unavailable) with diligence and enthusiasm.

CANCER - UHURA

Star Trek Uhura

Serving as the communications officer aboard the Enterprise, Nyota Uhura was a gifted officer with an aptitude for many skills, including linguistics, feats of athleticism, and mathematics. Like Chekov, she could man the helm, navigation, or science console whenever necessary.

Easy to get along with and imaginative, Uhura had an effect on everyone she encountered, often found like most Cancers to be charming and intuitive. Her emotional and loving side came out on different occasions, but as alluring as she was, she commanded respect for being shrewd and cautious.

LEO - KHAN

Ricardo Montalban as Khan in Star Trek

Khan Noonien Singh was one of the most powerful superhumans to emerge from the Eugenics Wars on Earth in the 20th century. He became one of the Federation's greatest threats and a personal nemesis to Captain Kirk.

Like his complex anatomy, Khan was a Leo that exemplified an amalgamation of traits. While he could be creative and charming, even broad-minded (which explained why he had followers that would give their lives for him), he could just as easily be dogmatic, intolerant, and patronizing.

VIRGO - SPOCK

Spock had one of the most distinguished careers in Starfleet, and as an ambassador, one of the most respected positions in the United Federation of Planets. He first served as a science officer under Captain Pike and then as the first officer under Captain Kirk on his five-year mission.

Spock like most Virgos was duty-bound and faithful to a fault, putting the needs of his captain and fellow officers ahead of his own. Meticulous and practical, Spock would find a way to solve any problem logically before letting the crew down, even if it meant personal sacrifice.

LIBRA - SULU

George Takei as Sulu in Star Trek

Described by Spock as a "swashbuckler" out of Kirk's 18th century, Hikaru Sulu was full of swagger and bravado for a science officer who headed up the Astrosciences division. He could also be found at the helm of the Enterprise, assisted by the younger Pavel Chekov.

Like many Libra, Sulu was known for being somewhat of a romantic, whether it was taking a fancy to Mudd's women, or falling victim to a polywater intoxication and protecting the "fair maiden" Uhura with his fencing foil. His devotion to his ideals and his diplomatic, easy-going nature made him a perfect captain of the USS Excelsior in his later years.

SCORPIO - CAPTAIN PIKE

Jeffrey Hunter as Captain Christopher Pike and Leonard Nimoy as Spock in Star Trek

Christopher Pike served as the commanding officer of the USS Enterprise from 2250 to 2265, at which time it was transferred to the command of Captain James T. Kirk (along with Pike's science officer Spock). He would eventually be promoted to fleet captain.

As a Scorpio, Captain Pike had a strong moral center, and his devotion to the values of the Federation made him a ionate and determined individual. He was a magnetic leader whose willingness to risk his life for others cost him dearly; he was horribly injured saving cadets from an explosive ship malfunction during a routine inspection.

SAGITTARIUS - SCOTTY

Montgomery Scott was the chief engineer aboard the USS Enterprise, and considered something of a "miracle worker" by Captain Kirk and the crew. Scotty was able to fix all manner of complex technical problems with innovation, imagination, and his superior knowledge of the ship's mechanics.

Scotty was an eternal optimist, with a jovial personality and possessed of the sort of sense of humor all Sagittarius have. He shot straight with his fellow crew , which was one of many reasons he was put in charge of delicate technology like the transporters. Though he could occasionally be careless and overly verbose, Scotty was a valuable member of the crew who often acted as the second officer.

CAPRICORN - MCCOY

Doctor McCoy looks stressed and sweaty.

Known as "Bones" to his colleagues, Doctor Leonard McCoy's expertise with medicine extended far beyond the "Doc" status. He was a well-respected surgeon, psychologist, physician, exobiologist, and when the occasion called for it, an expert in the psychology of space.

Like most Capricorns, McCoy was practical to a fault, often haranguing his fellow crew for their reckless or fickle behavior. His prudence availed the crew on many dangerous missions when his intervention meant the difference between life and death. Despite his pessimistic attitude, he was a very comionate officer who cared a great deal about all living things.
