There's nearly as much drama in Never Have I Ever as there is in a classic teen slasher flick — except high school politics and backstabbing in relationships take the place of violent killings. The characters, however, do fill a lot of the archetypal roles the audience might find in a slasher flick though. From the mean girls to the drama queens, there are plenty of characters that would quickly fall victim to the killer in a horror movie.
In fact, based on their personalities and functions within Never Have I Ever's narrative, the audience could try to figure out whether or not Devi — or one of her friends — would become the final girl. Who would live and who would die if Never Have I Ever was a horror movie?
Trent Harrison
As fun of a character as he is, and as much as Trent has great quotes in Never Have I Ever, his chances of surviving in a slasher flick aren't particularly high. Not only is he the "expendable" sidekick to one of the most popular guys in school, but he's also largely used as comic relief.
It's unlikely that Trent would be the first character to lose his life in the slasher version of the series, but he definitely wouldn't survive beyond the halfway point. He's one of the characters who'd dismiss the threat of the killer until it was too late, and his friends would be left in shock.
Shira Liedman
Much like Trent, Shira wouldn't last long in a slasher flick. As the established mean girl of the series, Shira doesn't have a big character arc in the show. She's there for the audience to see just how shallow the popular kids are, and she would serve the same function in a horror movie.
It would be Shira who would make it clear that the main character is a bit of an outsider. She would be just mean enough for Devi to feel guilty when she's relieved the killer went after Shira instead. Shira's death would likely kick off the spree for the audience.
Oliver Martinez
Eleanor's first boyfriend likely doesn't make a huge impression on most of the audience. Unlike Eleanor, Oliver doesn't place himself at the center of attention very often. The audience doesn't get to know him as much as they do other characters.
For that reason, he's likely to be an early casualty. In fact, his death at the hands of the killer would be the push to get Eleanor to really believe and be vocal that there was a killer on the loose while others doubted her.
Eleanor Wong
The resident Sherman Oaks drama queen, there's no role that Eleanor isn't interested in. She would definitely see the story potential in the horror of her classmates losing her lives, but she'd also likely be one of the first to be genuinely terrified that someone was out to get her.
The trouble is that Eleanor is also very trusting. She wouldn't think twice about following someone she thought was a friend into a dark alley, or meeting someone in a secluded place after getting a message. Eleanor's trusting nature would be her downfall.
Paxton Hall-Yoshida
For a large part of Devi's story, Paxton is the leading man. He's set up as her love interest because he's popular and attractive, and exactly what Devi thinks she's looking for. The trouble is, Paxton might not actually be her best match, which is why he'd likely be a love interest killed off in the middle of the story's conflict instead of making it to the end.
Paxton would live just long enough for the audience to see that he learned the value of things like hard work and not solely focusing on appearance. He would just start to be less shallow in time for the killer to track him down, but Paxton would also be one of the first characters to put up a decent fight, giving the audience hope of his survival.
Fabiola Torres
Fabiola is, arguably, the most intelligent character in Never Have I Ever. She might not have the best pop culture knowledge, but she's a fast learner who is great at recognizing patterns in behavior. Fabiola would be terrified, but she also wouldn't sit back and wait for the killer to find her. She would start studying what she knew and try to figure out who the villain was.
That would put her right in the killer's crosshairs. It's likely that Fabiola would even discover the killer's identity, which would get her in real trouble. She wouldn't even get the chance to tell anyone who the killer was before they eliminated her.
Ben Gross
If Paxton is the boy Devi wants, Ben might actually be the boy she needs. They're academic rivals who slowly become friends in the first season, which would translate to them working together to outsmart a killer in a slasher flick.
Unfortunately for Ben, though he's incredibly smart, and tougher than he initially appears, he'd likely end up between the killer and another target. Whether that target is Devi or Aneesa, Ben would meet his end trying to help the two people he seems to care about most get away.
Aneesa
The new girl in school might be a suspect in a modern horror movie. After all, no one yet knows if they can trust her. Aneesa as the potential killer, however, would definitely be a red herring. Though she and Devi might not get along at first, they would, like Ben and Devi, end up teaming up for survival.
That team-up would absolutely end up making them friends. Aneesa has a good chance at surviving as a result — at least until the sequel. If this particular slasher flick went to sequel territory, Aneesa would be eliminated early to get the audience to see that no one was safe.
Devi Vishwakumar
As the main character of the series, it seems only right that Devi survives the killer, right? The audience wants to root for Devi even as she breaks their hearts and makes horrible decisions. That would be true in a horror movie as well.
Like Aneesa though, Devi might only be the final girl of the first or second movie in a series of slasher films. Devi would be the one to put up the biggest fight with the most outlandish decisions. As she lost nearly everyone she cared about, though, Devi would likely get more reckless. Her grief has been the one thing that's pushed her to act out on the show already. That behavior would likely result in her catching one killer, only for another to be waiting for her.
Kamala Nandiwadal
Kamala might not be the main character, but she's had just as big of a journey as Devi in the series so far. Kamala isn't quite as impulsive as Devi and her friends, but she's just as smart as Fabiola. That means Kamala is also someone who would see that her teenage cousin was in trouble and be in a position to try to help.
Like Fabiola, Kamala would figure out who the killer was. She'd likely even outlast Devi as the killer wouldn't be as focused on her. Kamala would be the one carrying the final chapters of the horror movies and bringing down the killer once and for all.
