The horror sequel Final Destination Bloodlines is hotly anticipated, and it is coming to theaters soon, followed by VOD and streaming releases. The movie is the sixth installment in the long-running supernatural slasher franchise, which has grossed more than $650 million worldwide and features a variety of groups thwarting death because of premonitions that warn them of their impending doom, only to have Death itself hunt them down and cause them to die one by one in extravagantly bloody ways. The new installment will have an added wrinkle, because it seems that Death is targeting of a specific family.

The Final Destination Bloodlines was directed by Zach Lipovsky (Leprechaun: Origins) and Adam Stein (2019's Kim Possible) from a screenplay by Guy Busick (Ready or Not, 2022's Scream) and Lori Evans Taylor (Cellar Door). It also boasts a robust ensemble cast that includes Teo Briones, Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Anna Lore, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, and Bella and the Bulldogs' Brec Bassinger. It also features the late Tony Todd in one of his final onscreen performances, reprising the role of the eerie mortician William Bludworth, who he has played onscreen in three of the previous five movies.

When Will Final Destination Bloodlines Release On Streaming?

The Streamer That It Will Debut On Is Already Set

At the time of writing, it is unknown when Final Destination Bloodlines will arrive on streaming. However, it is set to the other Final Destination movies on the streaming platform Max. This is because the franchise is a production of New Line Cinema, which is owned by Warner Bros. Entertainment, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery, which is the company behind Max. Many New Line titles are currently available on Max, including The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, 2017's It, Sex and the City: The Movie, and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

Not every New Line movie is streaming on Max, including the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, which are not currently available on the platform.

Because so many Warner Bros. theatrical releases end up streaming on Max, there is a precedent for how long it takes before they begin streaming on the subscription platform. On average, roughly 73 days elapse between a movie's theatrical debut and its arrival on Max, though that number can be significantly lower (2023's House Party only took 49 days) or much longer (the billion-dollar smash hit stayed in theaters longer and it took 147 days before it went to streaming). Given this average, Final Destination Bloodlines can be expected on Max before the end of summer, sometime around July 28.

When Will Final Destination Bloodlines Release On Digital?

It Will Probably Hit VOD Before Streaming

Like many theatrical releases, Final Destination Bloodlines is expected to become available for purchase and rental on a variety of video on demand platforms, such as Prime Video and Fandango at Home, before it debuts on streaming. This process allows movies a grace period to continue directly generating cash flow as they transition out of their exclusive theatrical runs into their streaming releases, which can result in significant subscriber revenue, though those numbers tend to be more opaque. While its VOD release date is currently unknown, previous Warner Bros. movies have also set a precedent for the Final Destination movie.

[Final Destination Bloodlines is expected on VOD] more than a full month before its estimated streaming debut on Max.

On average, Warner Bros. productions arrive on VOD about 29 days after their theatrical premieres. Although Barbie remains an outlier at 53 days, this range tends to be a lot narrower, with the lower end being around 18 days (House Party, Evil Dead Rise, and Magic Mike's Last Dance) and the upper end usually hitting 46 days (Dune: Part Two and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire). This means that Final Destination Bloodlines will most likely hit VOD on or around June 14, which is more than a full month before its estimated streaming debut on Max.
