WARNING! SPOILERS ahead for FBI season 7, episode 6, "Perfect."

FBI. "Perfect" does not directly continue this story, instead offering a quick explanation for his non-participation.

Jubal's situation means that Isobel has to be the one to lead the team during an intense case involving a serial killer who is abducting young women and causing them to bleed to death after removing their uteruses. The rest of the FBI season 7 cast races against time to find the latest victim while she is still alive and must turn to Isobel rather than Jubal for guidance as they pursue this investigation, but Isobel's explanation for Jubal's absence does not clarify his status with the New York Field Office.

Isobel Says That Jubal Is Away In FBI Season 7, Episode 6 (But He's Really Suspended)

When the Field Office first gets the serial killer case, Isobel introduces it with the remark: "I know Jubal's out for the week, but we have work to do." This vague description of Jubal's status could be interpreted in multiple ways. The most charitable explanation is that Isobel is protecting Jubal's privacy by not letting the team know he's suspended, but FBI could have also made the disappointing decision to drop the suspension story by having Jubal be away for another, unspecified reason.

Although Isobel gives a timeframe of "a week," that doesn't necessarily mean Jubal will return in FBI season 7, episode 7, as the newest episode could take place less than a week later than "Perfect."

Jubal's suspension would likely be embarrassing both for him and the team's reputation if it were general knowledge that he had been sent home shortly after closing a difficult case involving the murder of a Hudson University student. Isobel had called Jubal into her office to give him the news privately that she had to suspend him for using his position to secure Tyler's release from police custody after a protest on campus. Thus, it's likely the rest of the team doesn't know the real reason Jubal is out.

Is Jubal Still Coming Back To FBI?

He Likely Will Return At Some Point During The Season

Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) appearing in the FBI International crossover event

Since there has been no news confirming Sisto's exit, it is likely that he will return at some point, especially since Isobel says that Jubal is only going to be out for a week. Jubal has led the Field Office team since FBI's premiere, so it would be huge news should his actor decide to walk away from the role, especially given that the series already lost an agent during the premiere and has not been successful in finding a permanent replacement.

CBS is making audiences wait and speculate over the fate of FBI's Jubal Valentine after he gets suspended last episode for abusing his power.

It's likely that FBI's casting update this past spring, in which it reported that it would be rotating cast to save money, necessitated Sisto to be absent for a couple of episodes. Thus, the series added the suspension storyline as a plausible reason for Jubal's absence. If this is indeed the case, Jubal will return within the next few episodes, either resuming his job duties or fighting to keep his job during an internal investigation.
