An story expansion for Aiden Pearce will be playable in Watch Dogs: Legion but didn't go into specifics about when or why he would show up all these years later.

Watch Dogs: Legion is the first game in the series set outside of the US. The sequel will take place in a fictionalized London that is now under military rule. It is widely expected to be one of Ubisoft's biggest launches of the year and will be released alongside Assassin's Creed Valhalla at the end of October. The publisher is doing everything it can to make the game as successful as possible and has even enticed high-profile names such as British grime star Stormzy to appear in the story.

member of Assassin's Creed titular Assassin Order. The DLC will be included as part of the Season for Watch Dogs: Legion.

While Aiden Pearce certainly has some fans among Watch Dogs, the character was also regarded as a rather stale and underdeveloped protagonist. However, that didn't necessarily mean that Pearce couldn't be explored further or go through more character development. The character also remains one of the most important in the Watch Dogs franchise, so mentions of him tend to be big news.

Having Aiden Pearce and Wrench appear in Watch Dogs: Legion is a pretty low risk decision for Ubisoft. While the character was not as engaging as some of the publisher's other protagonists, he still plays a big role in the series and will help tie together the new game with its predecessors. Hopefully, their inclusion won't just be token cameos or character skins but rather more involved appearances.
