Disney Plus has brought together a number of brands that are owned by the Walt Disney Company. While some are very obvious fits such as Marvel Studios, LucasFilm and PIXAR, others like National Geographic were a bit of a stretch.

There's plenty of other Disney owned brands which are yet to be fully integrated into the streaming service. Here's 5 that would work really well and 5 that just wouldn't fit at all.

Doesn't Fit: FX

FX is a channel previously owned by FOX that specialised in some edgier content. While Marvel based shows such as Legion did feature on the channel, a lot of the content is more skewed towards an adult audience.

Rather than featuring their content on Disney Plus, it makes far more sense to bring some of this high end programming to Hulu, a streaming service that can accommodate an older audience.

Does Fit: ABC

ABC on the other hand is a Disney owned channel that has produced plenty of family friendly content over the years. Shows like Agents of SHIELD use other Disney based brands in their material as well.

Even comedies like Modern Family have been d through other Disney Plus programs like One Day At Disney. There's plenty more ABC shows that should be available to stream now.

Doesn't Fit: ESPN

ESPN Plus is a streaming service that specializes in bringing the best sports content to families in the USA. While the app has not launched internationally, there's no place for this content on Disney Plus.

The sports streamed here might not have international appeal and really don't mesh well with other content on the streaming service, unless some sort of Disney Sports brand is launched alongside ESPN content on the service to appeal to kids and adults.

Does Fit: Freeform

Freeform is essentially the Disney version of FX in that it produces content that would appeal to a slightly older audience. However, the content really appeals to teenagers especially.

Some Freeform content like the Disney Plus internationally, but have been featured on Hulu in the US. There's plenty of ground to have Freeform content on the streaming service though.

Doesn't Fit: Searchlight Pictures

The Searchlight brand is based upon high quality storytelling on lower budgets. In many ways it feels like an indie studio, producing films that the larger companies wouldn't fund.

This content is usually produced for an adult audience, tackling big themes that might not fit with a family friendly platform. Although Searchlight's films are important, they wouldn't fit on Disney Plus.

Does Fit: Blue Sky Studios

"Spies in Disguise" stars Tom Holland and Will Smith

Blue Sky Studios have produced a number of animated films that families love. While the Ice Age franchised has been featured on the platform, very few of their other films have followed.

From Robots to Riothere's plenty of great franchises for Disney to use here and there's really no excuse not to. The films of Blue Sky Studios are a perfect match, combining the animation expertise and storytelling abilities showcased in the likes of PIXAR films.

Doesn't Fit: History

There's some excellent documentaries on the steaming service, courtesy of Disney Nature and National Geographic. While these documentaries demonstrate the natural beauty of Earth and it's inhabitants, the History brand does the opposite.

Many of their documentaries often show the worst of humanity; wars, political corruption, and plagues. These kinds of narratives would not be a good fit for this world of princesses and musicals.

Does Fit: 20th Century Studios

The Simpsons

The newly rebranded 20th Century Fox is known for some classic films and series over the years. While some of the content would be a better fit for Hulu, the brand is already making an impact.

TV shows like Night Of The Museum franchise.

Doesn't Fit: Hotstar

Hotstar is a streaming service that has been created for Indian audiences. The content there is very specific to that market and might not have the international appeal of other Disney brands.

While there's plenty to love about the programming and films created for Hotstar, it might also not perform to well considering it is made for a niche audience.

Does Fit: Disney Theatrical Group

The Disney Theatrical Group is well known for producing some of the award winning Broadway musicals based on classic Disney films. From Lion King there's plenty of hits to enjoy from this organisation.

Newsies is a great example of a show that is featured in both its film and Broadway format on Disney Plus. It's possible that more Disney Theatrical Group productions could be filmed and put on Disney Plus, alongside other original content based on the group.
