her husband Blake Shelton, John Legend, and newest coach Camila Cabello. The artists who advance past the Battle Rounds move on to the Knockouts. Each coach has the opportunity to steal an artist from another team and save an artist from their team.
Blake preferred Ian because he felt that "we got to see two different versions" of the singer, who started the song in his lower and sang higher as the song went along. Camila loved both artists but said Alyssa "blew my mind."
The Voice's Alyssa Witrado & Ian Harrison Battle For Team Gwen
Gwen praised her artists profusely, saying that Ian is her "favorite kind of voice" for a male singer. She applauded his range and how he sounded singing the high notes, calling herself a "super fan" of him. Ian sang "The Night We Met" by Lord Huron for his Blind Audition, earning chair turns from John, Gwen, and Blake, though he chose to Team Gwen. Gwen said, "I want to be you when I grow up," to Alyssa, who sang "Don't Speak" by No Doubt for her Blind Audition, getting Gwen and Camila to turn around. The preview video ended on a cliffhanger as Gwen had to choose between Alyssa and Ian as the Battle winner.
The Voice season 22 has a strong crop of artists, as shown by Ian and Alyssa's epic Battle performance. With each coach getting 14 artists on their teams this season as opposed to the usual 12, the Battle Rounds are longer, and viewers get to see more talent showcased in each episode. Gwen faces a tough decision between Ian and Alyssa, which is even more difficult given that she already used her one save on Destiny Leigh. Hopefully, one of the other Voice coaches will steal whomever Gwen doesn't choose.
With so many artists competing on The Voice, it can be overwhelming for viewers to keep track of all the talented singers. Alyssa and Ian have done their part to stand out from the pack with their Battle performance, and there will be more moving vocal moments as the season goes on. With a deep talent pool, The Voice season 22 could be one of the strongest seasons yet.
The Voice season 22 airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
