While many of the heroes and villains in Marvel Comics are defined by their dysfunctional or antagonistic relationships with their fathers, Vision breaks the mold thanks to a loving maternal presence and a strong relationship with his "brother," Wonder Man. Vision has had his fair share of traumatic events. As a synthezoid, Vision's families have often been created through strange events or technicalities. Created by Ultron to be a perfect version of the robot, Vision was considered to be something like a son to the villainous being. By extension, he was also the technical grandson of Hank Pym, who considered him to be a son in some instances.

Neither of those relationships ended up being good and nurturing for the android, who slowly learned to become more and more human. Vision to be another version of Wonder Man, but soon he would start to become his own person. Readers know that despite this change in personality, Simon and Vision were at odds many times, with drama surrounding the two and even a battle for Wanda's love ensuing. However, it was not always like that.

It was one of Vision's first healthy familial relationships, and led to many instances of self discovery, plus the desire to expand his family. That wasn't the only thing Vision gained during that adventure, as his link to Wonder Man had led the team to Simon's mother Martha Williams in West Coast Avengers #2. Now, the synthezoid had two healthy, nurturing relationships, which were just what he needed to help him grow.

Stuck in a never ending loop of tragedy, which at its heart was led by the cruelty of Ultron, Vision finally got a break with this newfound family. With his new wife, Wanda, the android would slowly become more and more human. In fact, he became so human that others even noticed that he was developing certain desires in West Coast Avengers #3. In order to progress, Vision must be allowed to have this family again, and finally have the nurturing relationships he deserved as he grew. Though tragedy is at the heart of many heroes and their families, something that no one can escape, even an android. Fans can only hope Marvel will give Vision another break and give him someone to look up to as he deserves to have.
