With classic television shows like The Munsters getting rebooted in 2022, Redditors have taken to discussion boards to express which shows they feel are being underserved by not getting another chance at being on tv. Most of these shows had a successful run but, at some point, were canceled, whether it be for low viewership or budget issues that ruined the quality of the series.

Viewers want their favorite programs to get another shot so they can fix bad storylines, have better quality graphics, or because they just can't get enough of seeing their favorite characters weekly. With so many streaming platforms looking for established IPs to bring back, anything is certainly possible.

He-Man (1983 - 1985)

He-Man

She-Ra and the Princess of Power rebooted the iconic character by adding non-binary and gender-nonconforming characters; the animated TV series became a massive hit for Netflix. But fans of classic 80s cartoons are still waiting for a reboot of the hero who started it all.

Redditor NukeDude14 responded to an AskReddit about vintage tv show reboots, saying, "He-Man. Didn't She-Ra get one? Why not He-Man?" With the success of She-Ra, there is room for He-Man to make his return and could include She-Ra to draw views from her series over to the new one.

Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda (2000 - 2005)

Cropped Andromeda Cast

There have been tons of sci-fi dramas in the past few years, some being reboots and others being totally original. But even with all the sci-fi series currently available, some fans are still missing one sci-fi series from the early 2000s. When talking about reboots, Redditor twbrn said, " My first choice would be "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda."... despite really cheap production values...it was pretty entertaining and well written."

The show's take on current events would be well served with a reboot, given that many sci-fi shows are no longer rewriting current events to fit their narrative.

Scooby-Doo (1969 - Current)

Scooby Doo Gang and Mystery Machine

A Scooby-Doo reboot may seem unnecessary with the long-running animated series releasing new content, but fans want to see Scooby and the gang get a contemporary twist.  One now-deleted Redditor said, "give Scooby-Doo the Riverdale/Chilling Adventures of Sabrina treatment, and you know what, I'd be so down for that."

A darker version of the show would be more for adults who watched the shows and films as a kid; given the success of Riverdale, this show would likely be a success, mainly if it sticks to the classic Scooby-Doo tropes fans love, but scarier.

Animorphs (1998 - 2000)

Animorphs was a sci-fi/horror series that terrified kids as they worried an alien race would come to take over their brains and could only be stopped by turning into various animals. It had all the over-the-top elements of 90s television, but it was well received by viewers, so much so that some fans want to see it make a comeback.

Redditor Gaelfling said, " Animorphs. On an adult channel because Animorphs gets really, really f***** up in later books." Like Scooby-Doo, a more horror-based take on the series would draw in adult viewers who watch the original series but have grown out of enjoying the teen drama elements that made the show successful.

The Addams Family - (1964 - 1966)

According to Reddit, the Addams Family is a spooky show that deserves a remake; Redditor TheFeelsGoodMan said, "It seems like a natural fit for a single camera sitcom. Juxtaposing the macabre titular family with the modern world is fertile ground for comedy."

The Addams Family has already seen renewed success with the new animated films, which gives producers the perfect in for bringing back the live-action sitcom. With The Munsters making a comeback in 2022, now is the time to drum up the old ratings rivalry between the two creepy families.

Cheers (1982 - 1993)

George Wendt as Norm Peterson in Cheers

Cheers was one of the most popular sitcoms and still has fans. The series did so well that it eventually led to the creation of Fraiser, which was just as successful. A reboot of the show wouldn't capture the same feeling of the original, but one Redditor suggested a change to the story that other fans were receptive to; Redditor CMacias said, " Something like Sam’s grandson inherits/buys the bar and tries to recreate how it used to be. If they wanted to, they could even use the Frasier relaunch as a jumping-off point since it’s an already established universe."

This type of reboot with a new story has worked for other shows in the past by having the nostalgia fans crave but not rewriting and poetically ruining their favorite moments and episodes.

The Golden Girls (1985 - 1992)

The Golden Girls holds a special place in television viewers' hearts. For a reboot to be successful, the casting and storyline would have to be nearly perfect for fans of the original to get on board. Redditor dogmom0314 said, " I think Jennifer Aniston said she'd consider doing a Golden Girls-style reboot with Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow. I'd watch that!"

While this casting would bring in viewers, especially fans of Friends, a modern twist on the show could be received well but would face intense scrutiny from die-hard fans.

M.A.S.H (1972 - 1983)

Alan Alda as Hawkeye Pierce in MASH

M.A.S.H was a groundbreaking show when it premiered and had fans hooked from the first episode to the last. The series emotional plotlines and unique brand of comedy helped keep it on the air for eleven years. Many of the M.A.S.H storylines could still be relevant today with a slight rewrite; Redditor namesareemptynoise said, " I'd reboot M.A.S.H. and set it in the Vietnam war so I could draw parallels to the Iraq war, the same way they originally set it in Korea..."

Many shows and movies offer commentary on the Iraq War, but none have done it the way M.A.S.H did in the 70s and 80s and could make a reboot a runaway hit if done correctly.

Little House on The Prairie (1974 - 1983)

Historically based shows don't often get reboots since they are already retelling the past, but fans of the original show would love to see a fresh new take on the book-inspired series. One now-deleted Redditor said, " Little House on the Prairie, but more realistic. I don't know how that would fly, but it would be interesting."

I don't know how that would fly, but it would be interesting." With shows like Yellowstone and 1883 gaining fans with their gritty Western style, a more historically accurate version of Little House on the Prairie may see success and even revive interest in the wholesome family version of the series.

Gargoyles (1994 - 1997)

Disney+ has already provided viewers with reboots of some of its most famous cartoons and films but has yet to reveal plans for a Gargoyles remake despite outcry from fans. Redditor rcc12697 said, "Either reboot the cartoon or make a live-action series or a huge epic franchise. The lore and world-building is so good, as is the action and characters. Ugh, it’s so good,"

As one of Disney's darker shows, all ages can enjoy the series, plus the freedom of streaming would help the show avoid the issues the original faced that led to its cancellation, such as changing networks and time slots.
