Anne Hathaway has been cast in an adaptation of a novel written by It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover. Hathaway is an award-winning actor whose breakthrough role was as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries. The notoriety she gained from this performance led to other comedic roles, but also paved the way for more dramatic parts in the ensuing years. She had a starring role alongside Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada, played recovering drug addict Kym Buchman in Rachel Getting Married, and won an Academy Award for her performance as Fantine in Les Misérables.

She Will Play The Titular Character

Hathaway has now been cast in the movie adaptation of Verity. Since it was first self-published by Hoover in 2018, the gothic, psychosexual thriller has become a phenomenon that spent months on The New York Times Best Sellers list and sold more than one million copies in 2023 alone. The novel's story revolves around Verity Crawford, a bestselling thriller author who is unable to finish her latest book after a mysterious accident. Her husband, Jeremy Crawford, brings in struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh to finish the book, which leads to dark secrets being discovered.

Verity was acquired by Grand Central Publishing in 2021.

As per Amazon MGM studios, Hathaway has been cast as Verity Crawford in the adaptation of Hoover's bestselling novel. The movie is being directed by Michael Showalter, who recently worked with Hathaway as The Idea of You's director. With Amazon MGM Studios also being the studio behind The Idea of You, Verity marks a reunion on multiple fronts as it builds off the success of the Anne Hathaway movie, along with It Ends With Us' $346 worldwide box office earnings.

She and Showalter have experience working together and will likely make another hit as they adapt Hoover's novel.
