Paradox Interactive held a Twitch stream of a live performance involving actors, where it was revealed that Tender was capable of mind control. The actors involved then played out a conspiracy theory-style reveal of the existence of vampires before the event mysteriously cut out to static, officially kicking off the real reveal of the highly anticipated game. The stream then showed the announcement trailer for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, which is in development by Hardsuit Labs and will be published by Paradox Interactive.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is the successor to the original game, rather than a direct sequel, and will be set in Seattle. According to Windows Centralthe protagonist is turned into a clanless vampire with unique powers as part of a mass embrace that goes wrong and they become embroiled in the war between the factions within the city. The main character will have access to special abilities, but they have to be careful ing them around mortals, otherwise, they may reveal the existence of the undead to humanity and break the tradition of the Masquerade that all vampires follow, which would have dire consequences.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is based on the fifth edition of the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop RPG, which means that the factions at play and the powers available to the character will be very different from those of the first game, as the lore of the series has changed. Bloodlines 2 is intended to have a vastly improved combat system over the original, with a focus on fast-paced melee combat. Brian Mitsoda was the creative mind behind the original Bloodlines and he was brought back to helm the sequel.

“When Paradox announced they were acquiring the World of Darkness IP, I immediately started thinking about what it would be like to return to Vampire: The Masquerade,” Mitsoda said. “Our aim has been to carry on the signature themes that made Bloodlines unique - particularly its dark tone, atmosphere, and humor - and I think that fans of the original will love what we’re doing with Bloodlines 2.”

There is only a brief announcement trailer available for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, but it has given fans a taste of what is to come. The original Bloodlines managed to capture the essence of what it must feel like to be a vampire with incredible powers that they can never openly use for fear of revealing their true nature, and Bloodlines 2 promises to put players back in the shoes of the damned once more. Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in Q1, 2020. Pre-orders for the game are now available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, GOG, and the Paradox Store.
