Jane Foster may be becoming Valkyrie. A magical warrior goddess who ferries the souls of those who have fallen in battle to Valhalla, the land of the honored dead. But the death of Lady Death herself is a problem even she isn't prepared to handle.
Due to her repeated unexplained absences from the hospital where she works, Jane has been demoted to working in the morgue with Dr. Rudy Gillespie (real name). It's turned out to be the perfect place for her, too. When a corpse rose again to on a warning that Death herself is dying, the eccentric Rudy -- having guessed Jane's identity -- gave her free rein to go investigate. Valkyrie enlisted Doctor Strange to help treat this otherworldly patient, and with assistance from Stephen's old flame Night Nurse (currently dating Hawkeye in his Freefall series), they assembled a team of medical superheroes for this one-of-a-kind case. And in Valkyrie #7, even Jane is as confused as Marvel fans when it comes to understanding the nature of Death personified.
