Who My Paranormal Partner's Becky Is & How She Supposedly Died

What Is Becky's Version Of Her Story

In Unsolved Mysteries, Becky is introduced as a ghost who speaks to Don. She is invisible to the eye, but Don picks up her voice on an audio recorder so that others can hear her. Though, it seems like Becky can control when she is or isn't heard by the living. On top of that, Becky seems to have some sort of power. When Don asks her about the evil entity haunting the home of Gaynor Issitt, Becky is able to put the spirit in its place so that the hauntings stop. It is unclear what Becky did or why.

Now, Becky provides Don with otherworldly information that either points to past events or predicts the future.

According to Becky, she is a woman in her 30s who died in the 1980s after being in a train or plane accident. Becky told Don that she was a schoolteacher in life, and also had children. Becky never explains what she was doing in the Issitt household, nor what she had been doing in the years before she met Don. However, when Don asked her to become his paranormal partner, she quickly agreed and began to follow Don wherever he went. Now, Becky provides Don with otherworldly information that either points to past events or predicts the future.

Steve Mera and Don Philips in Unsolved Mysteries Volume 5

Unsolved Mysteries reveals that Don and Becky have been partners for over a decade. Don met Becky at the Issitt home in August 2011, and she has accompanied him ever since. Notably, parapsychologist Steve Mera learned about Becky in 2015 when Mera put Don through a series of tests to prove Becky was real. Two years later, in 2017, Barry Fitzgerald invited Don, Becky, and Steve to Ireland to put them through even more tests. It became abundantly clear by that point that Don had psychic powers that were amplified by Becky.

At the end of Unsolved Mysteries Volume 5, Episode 2, Fitzgerald theorizes that Becky is not who she claims to be. According to Fitzgerald, he looked into Becky's story and found that there was no one matching the description that Becky gave. This points to the idea that "Becky" never really existed, and furthermore, that she was blatantly lying to Don. This, on its own, is a major red flag. Fitzgerald points out that if Becky was lying about her origins, there is no telling what else she has lied about. He concludes that Don cannot trust Becky.

Steve's experience with Becky also adds to this concept. If Becky was a good entity, then Steve hearing her voice might have been a more miraculous and exciting occasion. However, after hearing her, Steve was filled with a horrible dread. It was not exciting, but terrifying. This bad impression also points to Becky not being as good as she claims to be. In fact, Becky could easily be a demon who is manipulating Don for her own purposes. Ultimately, this is what remains unsolved about this Unsolved Mysteries episode.
