Nugs have been a beloved staple of the Dragon Age series, and in the Nug King in The Descent DLC. Normal Nugs like the ones in these examples are too small to ride. They are small, hairless rodents that populate the underground areas of the map and appear on the surface near various dungeons and caves. However, players can purchase much larger, exotic, horned Nugs, called Nuggalopes, as mounts. It does take a lot of time, however, and a lot of Coin.
While it is not required for players to use mounts to get around in Dragon Age: Inquisition, they are the fastest way to travel, and they do not take fall damage, allowing the Inquisitor to jump from heights without losing HP. A main Hinterlands quest requires players to seek Horsemaster Dennet to equip the fledgling Inquisition with steeds for battle. From that point on, players will be able to call their mount, whether they choose a horse, Hart, Dracolisk, or even a unicorn, and more quickly travel around the various landscapes of southern Thedas. For players who have always wanted to keep a Nug as a faithful pet or ride one into battle, here's how to get Nuggalope mounts in Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Unlock The Big One? War Table Operation in Dragon Age: Inquisition
To get a Nuggalope mount, players first must travel to Val Royeaux. On the upper level of the Summer Bazaar, players will see one lonely shop. Inside, they can speak to the merchant, Deraboam, who only sells one item, which is concealed behind a giant Mystery Box. Clicking on the item reveals nothing but the price; the Inquisition needs to shell out 10,000 Coin to purchase the Mystery Box.
Once the player has purchased the box, it will open to reveal a Golden Nug statue. Normally, Golden Nug statues appear at the Inquisition's base in Haven, Skyhold, or at Halamshiral to allow players to sync all their collectibles across their save files. This Golden Nug is different, however. The player will need to interact with the statue, which will unlock The Big One? War Table Operation.
Unlock Nuggalope Mounts in Dragon Age: Inquisition
At the War Table, the player can decide who to send to complete The Big One? operation. It takes about two hours to complete without any recruited agents for the advisors. Once the mission has been completed, players should head to their stables at Skyhold. There, they will have access to five new Nuggalope Mounts:
- Battle Nug
- Greater Nuggalope
- Gwaren Land-Hammer
- Knuckled Thunderer
- Tiddles Majoris
Players who unlock the Nuggalope mounts will immediately receive the Saddled Up achievement as well.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
