Fans of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, players can instead pilot these massive monsters and use them to defeat armies. Players will first encounter the beasts as they progress the main story and find and unlock the four Champions from Breath of the Wild: Mipha, Daruk, Revali, and Urbosa.
After players unlock these characters and their Divine Beasts the first time, they will be able to use them again later in special battles. These battles are part of special Divine Beast optional missions that can be completed any time the player wants. At first, even though the player will be able to add the Champions to their team and play with them, they won't have access to their machines until later. Here's how to unlock each Divine Beast for the first time in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and when players can expect to pilot them.
How to Unlock The Divine Beasts in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Each Champion has a special animal-like Divine Beast in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity that will play a part in their special mission. This character will pilot the Divine Beast first.
The first Champion and Divine Beast players will encounter is Mipha and Vah Ruta. The player will have a chance to pilot her Divine Beast in the final battle of her introduction mission, Mipha, the Zora Princess, which takes place in Chapter 2. Vah Ruta can destroy the several thousand enemies and large armies that attack at the end of this mission in Zora's Domain. Vah Ruta's special ability allows her to target several enemies at once and blast them with ice.
The second Champion players will find is Daruk and his Divine Beast, Vah Ridania. Like Mipha and Vah Ruta, Daruk allows players to pilot Vah Ridania at the end of his introductory mission, Daruk, the Goron Hero, also available in Chapter 2. Vah Ridania helps the player take out a horde of enemies on Death Mountain using his special lava blast attack.
Revali's Divine Beast, Vah Medoh, is an airborne creature. Players will need to wait until Chapter 3 during the Freeing Korok Forest mission to get in the pilot's seat. In this mission, they will be able to defeat enemies in the forest from the sky using two unique ability modes: firing ahead when the enemy is airborne, or bombarding from below it.
Finally, players will need to wait until Chapter 4 to pilot Urbosa's Divine Beast, Vah Naboris. Urbosa first takes control of Vah Naboris at the start of the Destroy the Yiga Clan mission. Vah Naboris can control lightning but will need to charge before using it. If players can wait for a full charge, Vah Naboris can use her special ability and blast through everything within its attack radius.
Once the player has piloted each Divine Beast once, their special Divine Beast Battle missions will trigger. These can be completed at any time, or not at all, but will reward the player by powering up the Divine Beasts upon completion.
