Christmas movies are a major part of celebrating the holiday season. Corny, scary, comedic, romantic, or magical, Christmas movies typically have a little bit of everything to offer. While audiences are certainly familiar with big-name classics from the last five years, including Holidate, Love The Coopers, Office Christmas Party, A Bad Moms Christmas, and more, there are some Christmas movies that may have failed to appear on the Christmas movie radar.

Every Christmas movie deserves at least a little recognition, especially ones that bring audiences joy and laughs.

Mercy Christmas (2017)

Horror fans will appreciate the blend of comedy and horror in this 2017 Christmas film. Michael thinks he has everything going for him when he meets what he believes to be the woman of his dreams, but he's in for a harsh awakening when he realizes that she's far more sinister than he ever imagined. Not only that, but he must endure Christmas dinner with her and her family.

Just Getting Started (2017)

Former defense lawyer Duke (Tommy Lee Jones), with whom he had developed a rivalry with at the resort that Duke now manages. The two put their differences aside to stop the mafia and spare Duke's life. It's definitely a memorable Christmas movie, with some action, comedy, and the talents of Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones in this film.

Santa Girl (2019)

Netflix released this interesting version of a story in which Santa's daughter takes the first opportunity she has to leave home. It's unbelievable to think that Santa's daughter wouldn't want to have anything to do with the family business, but nonetheless, it's the truth, as her dream is to pursue a college education instead.

Plus, not only is she leaving the family business, but also an arranged marriage, thus giving her the freedom to find love for herself.

The Spirit Of Christmas (2015)

Dedicated but workaholic lawyer Kate is in for a Christmas she never expected when she takes on the task of having an estate appraised and sold. With a deadline, Kate is determined to finish the job, but she's delayed by the fact that the estate just so happens to be haunted by a ghost. The ghost of a handsome man, no less. Kate soon finds herself falling for him, and takes on the task of solving the mystery that goes with his death. This movie is corny to a certain degree, but nonetheless underrated in its approach to a human falling for a ghost love story.

A Shoe Addict's Christmas (2018)

Candace Cameron Bure plays Noelle, a woman that's been her own biggest obstacle when it comes to getting what she wants out of life. However, that all changes when she's accidentally locked in the department store where she works one night and finds herself in the company of her guardian angel. The angel, through the clever use of shoes, takes Noelle through Christmases past, present, and future to help Noelle understand what's keeping her stuck in life, and how she can fix it.

Christmas In Rome (2019)

Lacey Chabert stars as Angela, a woman originally from America that works as a tour guide in the beautiful city of Rome, Italy. However, just before Christmas, Angela loses her job. Luckily, she runs into businessman Oliver, who hires her to teach him about Rome so he can seal a business deal over the holidays.

Angela helps Oliver embrace the Christmas spirit, and in turn, he helps her get her own business going. A Christmas movie in a foreign country, complete with romance, makes this Hallmark movie a Christmas gem.

Abby initially isn't thrilled when her grandfather presents her with an Advent calendar, but she changes her tune when she realizes that the calendar just so happens to be magical. From then on, Abby is taken on a whirlwind journey of romance and dreams, as she pursues her dream career and falls for the guy that was there all along. This Netflix film utilizes holiday magic to bring a couple together for a happy ending.

Family For Christmas (2015)

After talking with a man in a Santa Claus outfit, Hannah suddenly finds her entire life changed. From reporter to wife and mother, Hannah's thrown for a loop as she struggles to adjust to her new life. Her husband is an old boyfriend she truly loved, and they have two daughters, whom Hannah begins to develop bonds with. Just when Hannah is settled into her new life, she finds herself back in her old one, with Santa Claus clarifying that the experience was about changing her future, not her past. This Christmas movie is a good lesson in finding out what one wants and making that happen to change their lives to the way they want it to be.

A Heavenly Christmas (2016)

Kristin Davis stars as a recently deceased woman that was a major workaholic in life. She finds herself training to become a Christmas Angel, though she's not exactly at the top of her class.

This Christmastime movie stars Good Witch actress Catherine Bell as a woman helping her son coordinate his Christmas wedding. She's aided by the bride's uncle, who turns out to be someone she knew in her past. This Christmas movie reunites the two, practically demanding that they be a couple before the film's conclusion, and offering an explanation as to why he never showed up to meet her several years before, thus ending their romance back then. Life has a funny way of making things work out the way they were supposed to, and a second chance at love makes this Hallmark treasure an essential watch.
