Two Point Museum is the third title coming from Sega's Two Point Studios, following Two Point Campus and Two Point Hospital. The chaotic and whimsical games are best known for their humor while providing players with a relaxed and cheerful take on the management sim genre. In Two Point Museum, players will find themselves taking on the role of an aspiring curator who is running not just one museum, but several, while also sending out teams to find exhibits to display and managing staff and guest expectations.

Screen Rant's hands-on preview of Two Point Museum found that the game "retains a lot of the core traits that made other Two Point titles so beloved while simultaneously iterating on ideas in interesting ways." Although Campus was met with some mixed receptions, developers seem to have taken from that game to make Two Point Museum something that will work for everyone. It offers a large variety of things for players to do, while keeping its lighthearted feeling throughout, even when a frozen exhibit thaws out and players watch as a prehistoric caveman destroys sections of the museum.

Preorder Bonuses Have A Distinctly Sega Theme

Sonic, Shadow, And Tails Cosmetics Given With Preorders

Early purchasers of the digital versions of the game will receive special preorder bonus items themed from Sonic the Hedgehog to add to any and all museums. These adorable items may not be directly applicable to any of the museum exhibits, but certainly add a cheerful flavor to the game, and are fun to have. In particular, the wallpaper and flooring options that come with the set could be fun to include in any children's section of a museum alongside interactive displays.

Two Point Museum preorder bonus items all Sonic themed

The items in the Preorder bonus include the following items and cosmetics:

  • Sonic decorative statue
  • Shadow decorative statue
  • A Sonic & Shadow plushie grabber interactive display
  • Sonic, Tails, and Shadow staff outfits
  • Exclusive Gift Shop Sonic, Tails, and Shadow children's onesies
  • Exclusive Gift Shop Sonic and Shadow plushies stands
  • 2 Sonic-level-themed floor patterns
  • A Sonic-level-themed wallpaper

While the museum staff may not be fond of dres in Sonic, Tails, and Shadow outfits, they will have masks covering their faces, so the guests won't be able to tell, and there should not be any difference in management stats for staff happiness due to being forced to wear costumes.

As the name "preorder bonus" already implies, this Sonic Preorder Bonus Package will only be available with purchases made before the game launches.

Gameplay And Every Museum Type Announced So Far

Send Expedition Teams Out On Adventures To Find New Exhibits

Following the mixed responses that players had to Two Point Campus, developers took a different approach at Two Point Museum to offer plenty of variety and things to keep players busy year-round. Not only will aspiring museum curators need to take care of their museums with planning layouts, hiring staff, and balancing a budget, but in order for the museums to have exhibits for guests to come see, expedition teams will need to go out to find rare artifacts.

Much of the gameplay cycle will involve players sending their expert, or not-so-expert, staff out in helicopters to search for things worthy of being shown off in a museum. Then, players will want to decorate their exhibits by building and painting walls, laying carpet, decorating with items, and making sure that the iceman stays cold. Finally, from the managerial side of things, players will need to keep staff and guests happy and make sure the museum stays clean and theft-free in order to succeed.

There will be several museum themes to cover, and once maps have been revealed, then expedition teams from any museum can bring back exhibits of all types for each museum.

Museum Themes Announced So Far

Prehistory

Marine

Supernatural

Botany

Science

Space

While there may be more themes announced before the game launches in March, these six themes can already offer a large variety of museum focuses for players to design around. Developers have been slowly providing more information about each of the types of museums, as well as more fun content to expect in the game, so people are encouraged to keep an eye on Two Point Studio's social media pages for the most current updates. And, don't forget to preorder early if the special Sonic the Hedgehog items look appealing, as they will not be available after Two Point Museum is released.
