Television is a fickle business and a show can be tragically cut short and canceled without any warning. Leaving the story incomplete, and the fans unsatisfied.  But some are lucky enough to be given a movie, which acts as a mega-episode and is able to wrap up the shows loose ends and lets the fans say a proper goodbye.

But others are not so lucky, canceled before their time for whatever reason leaving fans in need of closure. With this in mind here are 5 TV shows that got a movie to wrap things up, and 5 that deserve one.

Got One: Twin Peaks

Though cult TV show's small viewing figures resulted in its cancellation. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me was a big-screen continuation of the show and served as both a prequel and sequel to the series.

Upon its release, the movie was critically panned but is now much more positively viewed. Often referenced as another classic example of critics getting it wrong. The '90s series has remained popular and even received a third season in 2017.

Deserves One: Daredevil

Being a superhero story the series naturally lends itself to the big screen and a movie to wrap things up, or even transition Matt Murdock in the mainstream MCU would be a great way to continue the character and give fans what they want.

Got One: Breaking Bad

With so many great television shows botching the ending and tainting the entire series, Breaking Bad left audiences satisfied with a great ending the wrapped up the series well.

The 2019 movie El Camino was a surprise upon its announcement but served as a sequel and gave Jesse's story a conclusion and wrapped up his story completely. With many characters from the series reprising their roles for an epic finale.

Deserves One: The Tick

The Amazon-produced reboot of the 2001 series of the same name, The Tick was canceled after two short-lived seasons. Despite positive reviews from critics, the series' low viewing figures resulted in its cancelation.

One of the funniest superhero shows around The Tick poked fun at the genre and its tropes, with a colorful cast of heroes and villains. The series would be perfect for a movie continuation, able to wrap up The Tick's story and give fans closure.

Got One: Deadwood

The western drama Deadwood is widely regarded as one of the best dramas on television, made famous by its high quality and use of profanities. But due to the series' high production costs, the show was canceled after just three short-lived seasons.

Deadwood ended way back in 2006 and the movie announced that same year, however, due to turbulent behind the scenes drama, the movie was not released until 2019. Thankfully it was great and gave fans what they wanted after waiting over a decade.

Deserves One: Pushing Daisies

The short-lived cult TV series Pushing Daisies was a unique black-comedy mystery show in which Ned used his gift to bring the dead back to life for a minute and try and solve their murder. The show was critically acclaimed for its fast-paced witty dialogue and creative murders.

However, it was also expensive to produce due to its elaborate production design and was canceled after only two seasons. Pushing Daisies deserves a movie to wrap up its story and give fans closure.

Got One: Veronica Mars

Despite critical acclaim, fan base remained strong and held out hope for that the series might be revived. It is those same fans that made the Veronica Mars movie happen.

Veronica Mars is unique as its big-screen adaptation was funded through Kickstarter, and raised over $5 million more than covering the cost of production. The series has since then received a fourth season, making it one of the most successful revivals of any show.

Deserves One: Hannibal

Serving as a prequel to the movies Mads Mikkelson had the daunting task of stepping into the shoes of the iconic Hannibal Lecter, but he proved to an excellent choice and wowed both audiences and critics alike with his interpretation of the character.

But like so many great shows it was canceled before its time, leaving the story unfinished. As the series is based on the movies, it only makes sense to wrap things up with a film.

Got One: Firefly

The unique mix of sci-fi and western genres gave birth to Firefly. The show featured a colorful cast of characters and writer Joss Whedon's trademark witty dialogue.

Unfortunately, Firefly was canceled after only one season consisting of fourteen episodes, much to the dismay of the fanbase. However, the show left a strong impression on its loyal fan base and the cult sci-fi western received the movie Serenity, which served to wrap up the story.

Deserves One: Community

unlike anything else on television and proved to be tough to categorize. However, the fan base, like so many cult shows, was loyal and vocal. With many adopting the mantra six seasons and a movie.

The show received six seasons, despite being canceled after season five, and now all that remains is produce the Community movie to wrap things up. Given that the show has no fantastical elements a movie should be relatively easy to produce, couple that with the shows ever-growing fan base, and we believe that a movie is all but inevitable.
