Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has found even more success with his latest cowboy/mafia drama, Tulsa King. The show centers around a mobster who is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma after finishing a lengthy prison sentence. After assembling a rag-tag crew of misfits, Dwight (Sylvester Stallone) seeks to build his own family and take over Tulsa. With the show's success, there was much anticipation around the second season, especially after the inconclusive finale of season 1.

Although it seemed like Dwight and company would have a happy ending, the season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger. Dwight was finally caught by the ATF/FBI. With the last scene of Tulsa King season 1 showing Dwight's daughter Tina (Tatiana Zappardino) reliving her traumatic childhood by watching her father leave in handcuffs again, the ending left many questions unanswered. However, Paramount+'s Tulsa King returned with a bang for its second outing, and has established itself as an ongoing drama.

Tulsa King Season 2 Critical Reception

A Mixed Reception For Season 2Sylvester Stallone looks on in sunglasses in Tulsa King

Following the smashing success of season 1 wasn't going to be an easy feat, but it seems as if Tulsa King season 2 did its job by elevating the action and delivering a lot of the Taylor Sheridan trademarks. Though some reviews panned the series for its cheesy execution and over-the-top tone (via Vulture), others actually found the best aspects of the show in those very same moments (via Collider). Impressively, Tulsa King also scored a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, suring its predecessor by quite a ways (season 1 earned a 79%).

Tulsa King season 2 concluded on November 17, 2024.

Tulsa King Season 2 Cast

New Villains To Challenge Dwight's Empire

With the show's success, and most of the Tulsa King cast surviving the final season 1 confrontation, all the key players reprised their roles in season 2. This included Sylvester Stallone as Dwight "The General" Manfredi, who has been the biggest attraction of the Taylor Sheridan vehicle. The only change in the cast were positive ones, with Annabella Sciorra and Tatiana Zappardino being promoted to series regulars. Sciorra plays Dwight's sister, Joanne, while Tatiana Zappardino plays his estranged daughter, Tina Manfredi-Gieger.

New cast included Frank Grillo who played the new villain of season 2. The MCU veteran is also known for his role in the Purge franchise, and he plays Kansas City mobster Bill Bevilaqua, who is trying to establish new territory in Tulsa. Another new tough for Dwight to scrap with in season 2 was Neil McDonough's Cal Thresher, a businessman in town who doesn't take kindly to Dwight's budding empire.
