To achieve her fitness makeover goals, Tracey and her husband Anthony traveled 20 hours from northern Ohio to Houston. They consulted with My 600-lb Life’s Dr. Younan Nowzaradan. Under Dr. Now's guidance, Tracey lost about 90 pounds. However, shortly after, she regained half of the pounds she'd lost. Nonetheless, she remained determined to achieve her weight-loss goals. After nine months, Tracey lost nearly 167 pounds. Instead of traditional weight loss surgery, Dr. Now removed excess skin from her legs, which weighed about 201 pounds. Tracey looked healthier and more optimistic after her My 600-lb Life journey.

My 600-Lb Life Star Tracey Matthews Moved Back To Ohio

She Had Trouble Traveling Due To Discomfort

Tracey had taken on the daunting task of moving to Houston to get help from Dr. Now. During her time on the show, Tracey was already a mother of three children (Branden, Tierra, and Ryan). She needed her husband with her. The couple had to overcome tough times together - sometimes, they argued. However, after the show, Tracey and her husband Anthony moved back home. According to The Cinemaholic, Tracey’s Facebook indicates that she and her family now reside in Lorain. Tracey also has two granddaughters and a couple of grandsons - she has featured them on FB.

She's Maintaining Her Results

In 2020, Tracey started a Q&A session with her fans on Facebook, where she talked about her My 600 Lb-Life journey, and gave an update about her health. According to Starcasm, Tracey told fans she still lived with lymphedema, although the pain wasn't as severe as it used to be. Tracey explained that she had one lymphedema mass removed while on My 600-lb Life. She added that it was a painful experience for her, saying:

it was the worst pain I ever had in my life. I’ve had other surgeries, but none of them hurt as bad as this one. It was horrible!”

Tracey Is Very Open About Her Experiences With Dr. Now

Tracey didn't fully enjoy her experience on the series, and other My 600-lb Life alums have also complained. She feels that more could be done to the show's cast . However, without the assistance of Dr. Now, she might still be at a very high weight. It seems like she did receive help that changed her life. So, perhaps her stint on the series had good and bad points.

Some of her gripes centered around feeling that she deserved more money for her reality TV appearance. Then again, the medical advice and treatment that she received is worth a lot. In the USA, the average cost of bariatric surgery and follow-up appointments can be as high as 33K, as per GoodRX. Also, the experience and education that Dr. Now has means that he's one of America's pre-eminent surgeons. He has 54 years of experience.

So, while some of her complaints might be valid, few would argue that Tracey wasn't given the best treatment and guidance available.

In a Reddit thread started by controversial villains Steven and Justin Assanti. However, Tracey was considered a respectful person who was doing her best. One Redditor wrote:

Tracy Matthews. She is the one who had the worst lymphedema ever. And yet? She never stopped walking, never seemed to try to manipulate people. I really really liked her.

It's nice to hear something positive about a cast member from the show - Reddit is often such a negative place. Tracey came off well onscreen and while she probably hoped to lose more weight, in many ways, her journey was impressive.

On Facebook, she's been quiet, but in 2016, she did post a photo, as seen above, where she appears to look thinner and happier. She uses the name Tracey Crum-Matthews on the platform. She was ing a team in the post and smiled proudly with her man, Anthony.

Things seem to be going well for the My 600-Lb Life star Tracey. While she may have regrets about doing the show based on what she said afterward, it's clear that her series stint led to improvements in her health and that is priceless. Hopefully, in the future, she'll share more about her life and times after reality fame.
