The latest earnings results from publisher Take-Two Interactive reveals that Gearbox Software unveiled Tiny Tina's Wonderlands during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest presentation in June.
Ashly Burch will reprise her role as the titular Tiny Tina in an adventure inspired by Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon's Keep, the Borderlands 2 DLC that positioned the character as the Bunker Master in a game of Bunkers & Badasses. As a "high-fantasy take on a looter-shooter," the spinoff boasts features its predecessors never explored, including deep character customization options and spell casting abilities. The leading lady will once more assume the role of Bunker Master, too, guiding the story along while players attempt to take down the Dragon Lord. Better still, players won't need to understand Borderlands' narrative to enjoy the Tiny Tina-led adventure.
Take-Two Interactive and Gearbox Software previously confirmed the new title would launch in early 2022; the publisher's quarterly earnings report has further narrowed down the release window, however. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands should arrive in Q4 of the 2022 fiscal year, meaning players can expect to go toe-to-toe with the Dragon Lord between January 1 and March 31. Few other details of note were revealed in the financial results, but GamingBolt reports that Take-Two teased "repeatable end-game content" for the spinoff.
At the time of writing, it is unclear when Gearbox Software plans on sharing more concrete details about the high-fantasy adventure. The release window for Tiny Tina's Wonderlands suggests the crew may not want to wait too long, though.
Tiny Tina originally debuted in the Borderlands universe with the 2012 release of Borderlands 2. The teenage explosives expert later returned in both Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 3, regularly providing additional color to the brand's already wild and over-the-top world. Thus, as a staple of the franchise, it's no surprise that she'll make her theatrical debut once the Eli Roth-directed Borderlands adaptation hits theaters. Ariana Greenblatt, best known for playing Young Gamora in Avengers: Infinity War, will assume the role of the unstable character. Apart from a photo of her silhouette, the live-action Tiny Tina has not yet been seen in action.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands will come to PC and consoles sometime in early 2022.
