Is Netflix's Twilight series better than a new movie?
Netflix is working on an animated series that will adapt Midnight Sun, the 2020 book written by Twilight franchise creator Stephanie Meyer, which flips the first entry in the saga to show the story from Edward Cullen's perspective. While I am excited about any new Twilight projects, I have to say that a sequel movie that focuses on Renesmee and brings back the original cast would be my favorite way of seeing more from the franchise. That said, since that is unlikely to ever happen for many reasons, I'll gladly take the Midnight Sun animated series.
What do you think about How To Train Your Dragon's live-action casting of Astrid?
There has been a lot of backlash over black actress Nico Parker being cast as Astrid, a white character, in the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon. I think it's really important for films or TV shows to stay true to their source material when it comes to casting, especially in regard to a character's race. However, I think this is relevant when a character's race is important to the narrative or their backstory. Astrid being white wasn't integral to her story, so I can't see why a performer of any background couldn't portray her.
Why wasn't Rachel Weisz' Melina in Thunderbolts*?
While the movie brought back a wide range of characters while also introducing a few key new ones, Thunderbolts* was notably missing Rachel Weisz' Melina, a pretty important inclusion after Black Widow ended with her and David Harbour's Alexei seemingly had a romantic rekindling, and the movie focuses on him and Florence Pugh's Yelena, and also features Taskmaster. None of the writers or director of the movie have clarified whether she was even in talks for a return, and she's not referenced at all in the movie. Part of me thinks it's likely it was a scheduling conflict amid the movie's shifting schedule from the 2023 Hollywood strikes, but a lack of mentions in the movie do make me worried Marvel has moved on from her.
Could You season 6 happen in the future?
You season 5 has been released, ending the journey of Penn Badgley's Joe Goldberg. However, I was intrigued by how the show chose not to kill him, instead opting to have Joe stay in prison for the rest of his life. I think that leaves the door open for a potential You season 6 to revive the Netflix series in the future, maybe a decade from now, to show us an older Joe breaking out. That said, I don't think it will happen, as Badgley seems pretty happy to close the door on Joe Goldberg for good.
Is Superman being weak in the DCU movie a sign that James Gunn understands him?
James Gunn's Superman movie trailers have repeatedly shown David Corenswet's Superman getting beaten up and bleeding. While Superman is usually shown to be an extremely powerful hero who can't be hurt by much, I think Gunn is using this shocking move to show us how he understands the character. By giving Superman so many adversities, Clark Kent's humanity comes out more, and since that is truly the best part of the Man of Steel — his desire to do good and help others with his immense powers — James Gunn's Superman movie is on point.
When will Daryl Dixon and Rick Grimes reunite in The Walking Dead universe?
Andrew Lincoln's The Walking Dead spinoff series, The Ones Who Live, ended without a reunion between Rick Grimes and Daryl Dixon. Norman Reedus still has a few more seasons of European adventures as Daryl in his own spinoff series before calling it a day as the character. With Lincoln not having a set project to return as Rick Grimes, the actor's future in The Walking Dead universe is up in the air. After returning home, Rick could greet Daryl when Carol brings him back to Alexandria, which could happen either as Daryl Dixon's series finale or in a crossover event.
Will The Void kill people with his shadows or send them to a shadow realm in Marvel's Thunderbolts*?
The Thunderbolts* trailers have shown that when Sentry turns into his evil persona, the Void, he has the power to seemingly kill people with shadows. However, due to the huge scope of the shadows shown in New York City and how the trailers make it seem like at least Yelena Belova gets transported to a darker dimension, I believe that the Void is not really killing people. Instead, he may be sending them to a shadow realm of sorts, even explaining why Sentry's evil name is "The Void." Other NYC heroes could have been sent there, explaining their absence.
Are you still upset Netflix canceled The Society?
I have grown used to Netflix canceling shows that I really wanted to see come back for at least another season. However, The Society's cancellation is one that I still can't accept. The show was renewed for season 2, only to be canceled a year later. The Society had intriguing mysteries, fun character dynamics, exciting relationships, and young actors brimming with potential. It was the perfect show for a multi-season run, but Netflix dropped the ball, and we were left with a major cliffhanger.
Was Paramount+'s Halo TV show really that bad?
Paramount+'s Halo show recently became a major hit on Netflix after being cancelled by the rival streamer in 2024, a surprising resurgence given the show was largely critiqued in its debut season. Though it was far from perfect, I've always held to the fact that gaming fans were far too critical of Halo as a whole, rather than looking at individual elements being weaker, like Master Chief's frequent helmet removal. The show did well to mix original storytelling with game lore, though season 2 was the real saving grace for the show in my mind, as it properly built the bridge to the games, and I'm still disappointed it got cancelled right as things were getting good.
Can Star Wars' The Acolyte season 2 ever happen?
It has been revealed that Star Wars' The Acolyte ended up being Disney+'s second most-watched series of 2024, with 2.7 billion minutes viewed. What is more impressive is that it was only a little behind first place, which was Percy Jackson and the Olympians with 3 billion. It's easy to see that despite all the negative comments, there were still a lot of people tuning into the show, though I agree interest waned as the season went on. That said, there was a lot of potential to make season 2 better. Sadly, I think the negative impressions won here, and season 2 will never happen.
Is Daredevil: Born Again season 2's confirmed release month exciting?
Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane has confirmed that season 2 will debut in March 2026. I think that is the best possible outcome for the MCU series, as it indicates the show will stick to a release schedule. After all, Daredevil: Born Again season 1 released its first episodes in March 2025, so it seems like future seasons will aim to be released yearly and run over the same months, which I think is perfect.
The Last of Us season 2, episode 6 shows why losing Pedro Pascal's Joel is so hard.
Pedro Pascal's Joel Miller was the main character of The Last of Us season 1. His death early in season 2 completely changes the series, and episode 6, which was nearly all made up of flashbacks showing Joel and Ellie's relationship through the years, is the perfect showcase of why he will always be missed. As an actor, Pascal is a powerhouse, not just due to his charisma, but also the way he adds emotional weight to scenes like the porch conversation. Joel and Ellie's banter was also the heart of the show, and losing it is a heavy blow.
I couldn't be happier about Conan O'Brien being in Toy Story 5.
After Conan O'Brien's immense success hosting the Oscars, his HBO series, and the ongoing love for his podcast, I feel like he's finally beginning to earn his due appreciation. I've been saying for years that Conan is one of the funniest people alive. I really hope he gets a sizable role in the movie.
Do you agree with the explanation for why Star Wars' The Acolyte was canceled?
New streaming data revealed by Luminate has shown that The Acolyte lost a lot of viewers after its first two episodes and going into what would become the series finale. With viewership waning, poor word-of-mouth, and more, Disney+ chose to cancel the series. In the end, The Acolyte became too expensive to justify the small viewership numbers it had, so I understand why the show was canceled, even if the finale set up season 2 to be better than the first, which I would have liked to see.
Is John Krasinski & Natalie Portman's new adventure movie what Netflix's $200 Million disappointment was supposed to be?
After watching the trailer for John Krasinski and Natalie Portman's Fountain of Youth, I couldn't be more excited about the adventure film. It promises to be the kind of thrilling, globe-trotting adventure that I expected Netflix's Red Notice to be. Despite having a huge budget and movie stars like Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, and Gal Gadot, I found Red Notice to be a disappointment, save for a few action scenes. Fountain of Youth seems more charming, with gorgeous cinematography and a tone close to the Uncharted games, which I love, making me confident it will be better than Red Notice.
All Righteous Gemstones fans must watch this 9-year-old HBO comedy now that the show is over.
It's crazy to think that The Righteous Gemstones has already come to a close, and for those already missing its unique sense of humor on screen, I have the perfect replacement for you in the form of Vice Principals. The HBO comedy, released nine years ago, was also created by Danny McBride, alongside frequent collaborator Jody Hill, and starred McBride and Walton Goggins as two vice principals who fight for the principal position at their school, only to be usurped by an outside hire, leading to them ing forces to take her down. Its mix of dark comedy and well-rounded character work makes it such a blast, especially since it's only two seasons long.
How can the IT: Welcome To Derry teaser trailer be that terrifying and barely show Pennywise?
HBO Max's IT: Welcome To Derry has released its first trailer, and although we barely see Pennywise in it, it is still absolutely terrifying. Now, to be honest, I have an irrational fear of clowns because I watched IT when I was far too young. So anything surrounding that story is going to get to me. This is an effective trailer that gives viewers just enough to have them cowering behind their hands, but not enough to scare them out of their skin. The laughing and the silhouette at the end got me though, not going to lie.
I have one problem with the latest casting of Greta Gerwig's Chronicles of Narnia.
Greta Gerwig's Chronicles of Narnia continues to forge ahead with Carey Mulligan ing the film, and while I would normally be excited at the prospect of seeing her in the franchise, I do have a problem with reports indicating she'll be playing the ailing mother of protagonist, Digory. Though it's kind of an inherent problem of the source material, I feel like that's a character who, unless Gerwig expands, is somewhat of a minimal figure that it's right on the verge of fridging Mulligan and wasting her talents.
Is Solar Opposites still good after Justin Roiland voice replacement?
Justin Roiland was replaced as Korvo's voice in Solar Opposites and many fans have said that they stopped watching because of it. I personally do not have an issue with the replacement, and understand why it was necessary. Dan Stevens takes over the voice role and the way that they address it is perfect. He does not try to copy Justin's voice, but rather gives Korvo a new voice. This did not change the vibe of the writing of the show either. It is still the same Solar Opposites, done wonderfully. I was not bothered by Justin leaving.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel's reported title has me more hopeful after my disappointment with the first movie.
NBCUniversal seemingly let it slip during their Upfronts that the title of the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is going to be Super Mario World, and I am a little more hopeful now compared to before. Not only is it an understandable extension of the first movie, particularly after the tease of Yoshi in the first movie, but it would also give a better story structure for Luigi to actually be involved in the film after being a very small part in the first movie.
