Harry Potter is a wildly successful franchise. The films are something that new generations continue to watch and fall in love with. The news that Harry Potter will become an HBO series has its pros and cons. Spending a full season to explore each book means that not only will certain plot points that were cut finally be able to come to the screen, it means there will be more hours, and more time, allotted for each book to be better told and adapted more directly. At the same time, these films are so iconic and well-loved, that it is hard to imagine anyone else playing these characters. The new cast is going to have a lot of big shoes to fill. That said, hopefully, the series will welcome new viewers into the fandom.
