Thor, and a new cosplay has perfectly captured the essence of her amazing design. With her wings and magical vambrace, Jane’s instant-classic Valkyrie look has been perfectly captured.
Valkyrie is brought to life in a spectacular new cosplay by Lane Fenimore (@laneyfeni). Fenimore has perfectly recreated Jane’s armored costume, including greaves, vambrace, chainmail cuirass and a helmet 3D printed by @supermanfitt. The look is only made that much more stunning thanks to this cosplay’s version of Jane’s golden wings. Fenimore thanks @candidjohnkim for the photography and @ssnwwc2 for filming the slow-mo video of Valkyrie in action, both at KatsuCon 2023.
Jane Foster's Valkyrie Comes to Life
Jane Foster has, in recent years, come into her own as one of Marvel’s most important heroes. Originally the love interest of Thor and a co-worker of Jane was picked to be a new Asgardian Valkyrie, the shield-maidens who ferry souls to Valhalla, with this new heroic moniker representing both Jane’s Asgardian ties and her medical acumen. Alongside this new identity has of course also come an incredible new design courtesy of Russell Dauterman.
Valkyrie's All-Weapon Is One of Marvel's Coolest 'Gadgets'
Part of the reason that Jane’s Valkyrie design is also so amazing is in how it incorporates her new powers. Her vambrace specifically is the reshaped remains of the Mjolnir of Earth-1610, the Ultimate Universe’s; one of that universe’s few surviving artifacts. During War of the Realms, Jane used this hammer to become Thor one more time and, after doing so, it bonded itself to her, becoming the All-Weapon, which has the power to transform into any weapon. The All-Weapon, named Undrjarn, also functions as Jane's wings.
Jane might have become a Valkyrie under strenuous circumstances, but has fully grown into the role, becoming the protector of the dead and a stalwart ally to Thor and Asgard. Lane Fenimore’s flawless cosplay of Jane Foster captures why - though her time as Thor remains adored by fans - her new status quo as Valkyrie is thankfully here to stay.
